She listened to Samantha talking about nicknames. What she said was very true. She hadn't thought of that before. She nodded along, taking in what she was saying. The truth was, she had never had any friends to give her a nickname. Sad, but true.
Samantha was talking about love. Ahh, love. It seemed impossible to find. Well, for her anyway. She wondered what was worse, liking someone who is already taken; or not liking anyone at all. Davina had never properly been in love. She had had a few crushes on boys, but none of them had ever gone anything further than that. She had never even had a boyfriend. Boys either thought she was a geek, a nerd or they just completely ignored her. She wasn't pretty, outgoing or anything that most boys found attractive. She was clever. It was all she had and she embraced it.
Samantha mentioned vampires which brought Davina back into reality. She knew a bit about vampires, but it was one of the few fields she didn't know much about. She actually had a library book on vampires sitting on her bedside table, waiting to be read.
"I know a bit about them, I guess." she told Samantha. She tried to recall a few of the facts she had read the previous night when she had started the book.
"Well, I know that they drink humans blood, but some of them only drink it from dead humans." she stated, trying to think of some more facts. She wondered how much Samantha knew about vampires, and why she was so interested,
