Hayden chose to work on his homework in the great hall instead of the library, as he had grown tired of the musty smell of books. The presence of Patrick always made the library more enjoyable. Thoughts of Patch brought a small smile to Hayden's lips, reminiscing about their recent time together. Even in Patrick's absence, he managed to distract Hayden from his tasks. Luckily, he was just about caught up from what he had missed out on at the beginning of the year. Just had to finish three more papers on top of the new ones that had been assigned this week.
As Brynnley sat down beside him, her radiant smile beamed, and she subtly moved closer without making physical contact. "Hey, Hayden," she greeted, her dark curls cascading down her back. "What have you been up to, handsome?" Brynnley attempted to charm Hayden into helping her with a paper she was supposed to write but didn't want to.
"Hello, Brynnley," he responded politely, briefly looking up from his work. "Just working on a lot of homework." Hayden brushed her off, not showing much interest in her sudden appearance.
"I actually came over here to talk to you about that," she said, her voice soft as she gently placed her hand on the table next to his. "I completely forgot what we were supposed to write about for the Potions paper this week."
"It's the Draught of Living Death," he replied, glancing at her hand and subtly moving away.
"Yes, the sleeping potion," she confirmed, a hint of uncertainty in her voice.
