Xavier's heart had been shattered for the past sixteen years, ever since he lost Maline, the love of his life. He had never been able to forget her, carrying the engagement ring he had planned to give her around his neck wherever he went. After leaving for a work trip to Romania to study dragons, he returned to find that Maline had disappeared without a trace. Her belongings had been packed up and she was nowhere to be found.
Despite traveling the world and writing about his encounters with different creatures, Xavier had never been able to shake off the feeling of emptiness in his soul. He knew that a part of him was missing, and it seemed like nothing could fill that void.
On this particular day, he found himself in Diagon Alley, having just turned in a paper on nifflers to his boss. He had decided to deliver it in person so that he could stop by the Leaky Cauldron and catch up on the latest news. As he sat in a dark corner booth with a fire whisky in hand, he listened to the conversations around him. People were talking about everything from the latest Quidditch match to rumors about Harry Potter.
But those rumors only served to irritate Xavier. They gave false hope to families who had lost loved ones, and he couldn't stand the thought of it. He grimaced as he finished his drink and placed the empty glass on the table. Tossing some coins down to pay, he got up and left the Leaky Cauldron, feeling that there was nothing left for him there.

Cecilia Attwood, the 15-year-old daughter of Maline Attwood, was currently enrolled at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Unfortunately, she had no knowledge of Xavier's existence or that he was still alive, as she had been raised in a muggle orphanage. Despite this, Cecilia had often pondered about him, wondering what he was like, how he looked, and whether he even knew she existed.
However, due to the numerous misfortunes she had faced, Cecilia had built a sturdy emotional wall around herself. She sought refuge in books, distancing herself from any potential relationships that might lead to further disappointment. Her primary objective was to protect herself from further heartbreak, and so she dedicated her time to studying and learning, hoping that knowledge would provide her with some form of stability.
