The main street of Hogsmeade was brightly decorated in orange, green, purple, and black. There were pumpkins everywhere. There were all sorts of booths selling Halloween treats of all kinds, jewelry, candles, potions, toys for kids, souvenirs, and just about anything anyone could want. One booth sold beautiful shawls and hats for women.
There were booths that were carnival games of all sorts. There was one booth that did the old fashioned bobbing for apples. Another one had face painting, one had a dunking machine, one was taking wizard photos, one had a 'test-your-strength' game with a large mallet, one game was a ring toss, trying to throw rings around little pumpkins for a prize. One game was like a shooting range, shooting ministry-approved wands to try to kit moving toy bats. There was even a petting zoo of magical creatures for the kids.
There was a pageant for Halloween costumes, broken down into various genders and age groups from babies on up, including a category for animals and pets. One end of main street had several amusement rides for kids and adults and not far from that were amusement rides for small kids. It was like the wizarding world had gone all out, and all the proceeds were going to St. Mungo's.
There were events scheduled for after dark, including trick or treating for every kid under age 12 from the Hogsmeade shops and the carnival booths. There was a fireworks displays scheduled, and the shrieking shack had been decorated as a frightening haunted house with real ghosts and frights for those who dared. The costume contest awards would get given out, and there would be a dance for everyone in the town square with music by a live band. The whole night would close at midnight. Angus didn't believe he was going to have the energy to last until midnight, but if Ruby wanted to stay, he had no problem with that, so long as she was with someone from the estate, just for her own safety.
Khaat had brought Sparks to the carnival, and she had done an outdoors Sparks pop up cafe. She had done a cute picket fence, painting in Halloween colors, with picnic tables. There was a magically enchanted vardo wagon that maintained its regular shape on the outside, but had a full restaurant kitchen on the inside, where Lizzie and her staff were churning out a full menu of special dishes created just for the carnival. People seemed to love to see Sparks in Hogsmeade, and they were suggesting that Sparks open a second location--a permanent one in Hogsmeade.
The boys found Abbey in no time at all, and Khaat gave them permission to take Abbey with them so long as one of the adults was always within eyesight, even if it was at a distance, and at about the same time, Sergio's three found the boys. It made for a happy crew of six kids, and Angus tried to stay close to them, but it was hard for him with the griffin. The kids decided to go into Honeydukes, and Sam put Abbey up on his shoulders so that she didn't get stepped on in the crowded candy store. Angus gave Sam extra money and asked him to be sure to get some of the bright orange or green Halloween candy floss for Sergio's kids to pay off the wager they'd made, and he gave Sam plenty of extra to splurge on any of the six kids for a reasonable amount of Halloween candy.
