Christian was opening his mouth to say that she presumed too much considering they had never made a plan, much less changed one. But then she added something on that really struck him. There had always been something that kept the two of them running along in life side by side, despite the fighting. And he had originally stuck that reasoning under the 'PA' label. But on the other hand, he'd known all along that it wasn't just that. At least... not for him.
Was it the same for Alice?
Somehow, he doubted it could be, because even Christian himself wasn't exactly sure what he meant. Maybe he hadn't known all along. He had been so distracted by his brother and by Lily and his family, and Ace had given him a way out of that. Sure, they had only brought on a few new members over the past couple years, but that was better than nothing considering where they started. And considering people like Pavo, who he could admit was a problem. So he wasn't sure how he felt about Apollo graduating. He didn't want to worry about that over the holidays, though. Didn't want to listen to their father praise the son that he still thought would cave. Merlin, if they knew.
He blinked at Ace, thoroughly confused by the, well, confusion that made him delay his original response. No. Not delay. Change it. When he swallowed, glanced away, and looked back at her, whatever surprise he'd felt was replaced with a mild amusement and acceptance. "Well. I figure Apollo would rather go back to his flat than to the manor. So.. let me tell him, and then we can go. I'll write to them later."
