Blushing when she smirked at him, Albus looked back at his book. Why didn't she just go away and leave him alone? He had OWL's to study for, that would keep him from being bored. He went even redder when she asked how he had become a Slytherin. She said it was a tradition for them to be in Gryffindor, but Albus knew why she had really asked. He wasn't stupid, she thought he was to shy to be in this house. "My dad told me that Slytherin isn't a bad house, and that the bravest and smartest man he knew had been in this house," he answered. "The Sorting Hat said I'd do well in Slytherin, and that it would help me prove myself. So I decided to be a Slytherin."
He remembered that day and probably always would, the sorting hat had taken nearly a whole ten minutes trying to figure out where to sort him. The whole hall had been waiting quietly, when the hat shouted 'Slytherin!' Albus took off the hat and walked quietly to Slytherin table, everyone had been to shocked to say anything. He would have picked Gryffindor, his dad had told him he could choose whatever house he wanted to be in - that a person's choices defined them more than there abilities. But everyone always doubted him, and he wanted to prove he wasn't weak, so he picked Slytherin.
