It was only the second day back at Hogwarts, but Eleanor was already bored. Like, so bored she’d found herself staring at the ceiling. It didn’t help that they’d started classes on a Monday. In fact, it made everything much worse. She had homework she didn’t want to do, first years who were being loud and asking a ton of questions she didn’t know the answers to.
So maybe ‘bored’ wasn’t the right word. She was… unhappy. And she didn’t like being unhappy.
So, rather than let her mood worsen, which she never ever accepted, Eleanor decided she would take some time to go outside. There was a little courtyard area that she loved best, with a bench and a tree that hung over it to provide shade for its visitors. The only problem came on a windy day, when the branches moved and flicked shadows back and forth across book pages. But that was not the case today. And she wasn’t reading, anyway.
Instead, she just laid herself back on the bench, taking in the leaves above her. Other students were milling about, so it wasn’t exactly quiet, but it was certainly more peaceful. So much so, in fact, that she let her eyes slide shut as she listened. Later, she decided, she would start her assignments. But not yet.
