Lucien showed up early the next morning, though he didn't really want to. On the one hand, the night before had been a literal, living nightmare. One with multiple levels drawn straight from his deepest fears and flaws. But he had done what he could to put things back together, and the Auror had shown up and really, there was a chance that he would get away with it. There was a chance that nobody would notice.
But the thing was, Lucien knew how... well, there was a word he could use for how precise she always was. His manager, that is. But she wasn't what he'd call
mean, exactly. Just careful and serious. And he could certainly handle serious. Trying to be fun would have actually been more of a challenge for him.
Regardless of all that, he was indeed early in the hope that he could cover up any remaining evidence of what had happened the night before. At least, as far as his part in it was concerned. If he couldn't even take care of the shop when he was on his own, how could he be trusted as part of the staff? The short answer, probably, was that he couldn't.
Unfortunately for Lucien, the Aurors of course had to make some sort of report. That's just how things like this went. Especially when people were hurt and outright refused to go to St. Mungo's, eh? So he was unlucky in that he wasn't the only one who showed up early because of the whole mess.
