Nice to meet you

It was Irina's second day at this school with the job as a professor. Even the funnier thing was the fact that she was new Head of Slytherin.
Keiran gave her the job and then asked her if she would like to take a position as Head of Hause because now that position was empty.
Obviously, no one wanted to have anything with Slytherins.

Irina felt really better.
Potions Keiran gave her helped her and now, wound from the bite was barely visible on her left leg.
But she decided to keep that she was a werewolf a secret, she didn't want to have the problems with other professor or students. Irina was the student as well, she knows hot mean students can be.

The day was beautiful and Irina decided to go to the Greenhouse hoping she will find professor Maddie there. She met a lot of professors and she heard all the best about Maddie.

She entered in the Greenhouse and found the woman, probably Maddie standing with one little boy.

"Hi. Am I interrupting anything? I just came to say hi, since I'm new here and I want to meet my new co-workers" she smiled and approached.
"I am Irina, by the way".

Irina was fascinated.The greenhouse was big enough that probably 150 or even more people can stand in without making crush. Wherever she looked she was able to see various plants and for most of them she wasn't sure about even the name, and she was sure she wouldn't be able to use them properly.
She went to Durmstrang and indeed, they had their own greenhouse but it was in comparing with this one, small like the office in someone's room. Really small but it wasn't odd if we consider the fact that at the Durmstrang was the accent on Dark Arts.

Irina frowned while thinking about her old school, she never liked what they learned but at the same time, she was too young to understand how bad it really was. She was the just naive child who thought that is common but then, she grew up and found the job here.
The first thing she learned was the fact that Dark Arts here was something bad, almost dirty words.
The only thing students was learning here was how to defend themselves and she realized that she would be the great professor there if that position was empty.
Probably she knows more about that than anyone else here.

Once she was close enough she looked at the woman and child in front of her.
Maybe she was wrong, but Irina could bet they are related, maybe she is his cousin. They looked really familiar.
But then she heard a part of the conversation and hearing that, she realized that the woman was probably boy's mother.
"Hi, it's nice to meet both of you, even if I already had the chance to meet this lovely boy" Irina smiled politely and tried to remember where the boy way sort.
Maybe he is even in her house, she wasn't sure.
She needs to learn a lot more about students but the boy looked too nice for Slytherin.

Don't get her wrong, she likes all kids here but if she decided, to be honest with herself, her brain got wild and realized that she probably got the most problematic house.
All Slytherin seemed to be manipulative, too much ambitious for their own good, sneaky and ready for everything in order to be the best.
She had unlucky to got that house and when she accepted she was almost able to see the relief on Keiran face. It looked like no one wanted that position.
But she needed Keiran, he was the only one who was able to help her and Irina swore that she would do anything she could to repay the favour.

"I am really glad to meet you, Professor McKinnon" Irina smiled and looked once again at the boy. She couldn't but notice his high self-esteem. He was really sure of himself and he greeted her almost formally and she smiled because of that.
"And if I recall, you are Charlie? I am really glad to see you again" she said hoping she didn't say the wrong name. The boy was really nice and she didn't want him to think that she was not worth, or that he was so unimportant that she even didn't now his name.

"Actually no, I am the new Astronomy professor. Boring as hell but what can I do?" she shrugged and smiled once again.
For Irina, it was still hard to realize that she was really astronomy professor. She knew enough about the subject, of course, but she was the one who never believed that starts could actually say anything.
So, she needed to teach children about the subject that she thought was really big waste of time.

"But don't feel bad because you wasn't sure. I understand that I am new here, people still need to get to know me. And Astronomy and Rune has a lot in common." Irina said in the hope she would help Maddie to not feel bad.

She took a chance to look at the woman more carefully.
She was young, maybe the late twenties.
And more than anything, she was pretty.
She had really odd hair, Irina wasn't sure if it was dark blonde or light brown. But either way, it was interesting.
And more than anything, the woman seemed to be really friendly and kind.

Irina was sure they could become good friends.

"So, you are teaching the Herbology. How long do you do this job?" Irina asked curiously.
"I mean, you don't need to answer, I was just hoping that I will be able to get to know my co-workers together. But if you don't have time we can chat a little bit later. I'm so sorry if I interrupted anything, I should tell you first that I am coming" she apologized.

The boy smiled and Irina knew she did the good thing. Obviously, to this boy meant a lot the fact that she knew his name. Irina smiled as well.
He only had one her class fo far but there was something about him that was just telling he was the good one.

Maddie said that astronomy is a good class and Irina smiled as well. She liked this woman so far. There was something in her, she was really positive and kind. Irina couldn't say the same for most professor at the moment but if they are all at least a little bit like Maggie, this will probably be the good year.

Irina looked at the boy once again before she started speaking.
Yeah, astronomy could be really interesting, and it's really important class. You should do your best and who knows, maybe you will be new teacher once." She smiled and then looked at Maddie again.

Irina smiled and nodded to the boy. He sounded like an old man, packed in the little boy.
"He is really good chil" Irina smiled and looked at Maddie.
Irina likes kids a lot, her dream is to have once house full of children.
She knew that motherhood is the hard job that never ends, but she hoped she will be the good mother and the one who would learn her kids to behave like this. This boy was full of respect for her which she can't say for the students in her house.

She still remembers her first day and introduction and how bad it was.
Students just didn't care and she felt like a fool because she even did that. They were just caring about their own things, and they barely spoke to her.
They didn't even say hello. Probably it was too hard for them. But who is she to judge.

"Oh, I like magical creatures a lot" Irina smiled while thinking about that. For her whole life, her wish was to work with magical creatures. And who would say, she just became one a few weeks ago.
If someone said to her that she will become a werewolf, she just wouldn't believe.
"In fact, I was always hoping that I will get a chance to work something connected to magical creatures." She paused a little and frowned.
"But I am here instead. But again, who knows? Maybe my dream will become true once" she shrugged.

"You are here for the year? How you survived?" Irina joking but there was just a little bit of truth in her question.
"She was sure she wouldn't be able to stay here for that long time. She just wasn't the best for the job.
Once when Keiran finish with helping her, she decided that she will leave this place for good.
"I just have problems with kids in my house. I am not sure how anyone deals with them. they just care about themselves and that's all" she frowned and once again, she started thinking about the first meeting with them.

Irina smiled at Maddie's joke and looked at her.
"You wouldn't even believe how much creatures are really here," she said it as a joke but she was actually thinking about herself.
She couldn't but think how Maddie would react if she knew what Irina is? Maybe she wouldn't be friendly and kind like now. But if you ask Irina, that will stay the mystery, always. She doesn't plan to tell anyone what she really is.

And just like that, Maddie asked that question. What should she say to her? Maybe Maddie would be her first friend here and she is supposed to lie to her? She will just think about something, she needed to.
"I'm fine with both options, whatever works for you" she smiled to hide how nervous she actually was.
