GENERAL APPEARANCE: Liddy puts very little effort into her appearance most days. She doesn't put stock into the idea that she should have to dress up for anyone. Looking good doesn't make her a better student. It doesn't make her a better chess player. Why bother? She sticks to the school uniform and when it's not that, she wears jeans and a tee shirt, a sweater maybe, tennis shoes.

Liddy just got her braces off last summer. She's not used to her new teeth yet. She has dark brown eyes and black hair that rarely cooperates with her. She's fairly average sized, all around. Normal height, normal weight. She doesn't often wear a smile, but it is infectious when it is there. She has pianist fingers, and she really likes her hands.

EARLY YEARS: Shaun and Camille were young and stupid, and it was only because Liddy was on her way that they decided to tie the knot. There was sincere love there, certainly, and Shaun thought Camille was the reason the sun rose every morning. Shaun had no idea Camille was a witch until Liddy was nine and Camille was finally caught in one of her many lies. Shaun tried to adjust, tried to understand, but apparently it wasn't enough. Camille left when Liddy was eight, leaving Shaun with all of the kids.

Liddy showed signs of magic at six, but hid it from her parents. It didn't help seeing magic drive her parents apart. She wanted to resent her magic, but it made her special, set her apart, comforted her. She hated school, where the kids constantly flaunted what they had, where kids came from homes with mothers, where being smart didn't matter to anyone.

When her Hogwarts letter came, Shaun was shocked - almost devastated. She apologized, swore she didn't have to go, but a school representative arrived to explain the importance. Shaun seemed hollow when he agreed to the tuition agreement. He called Camille time and time again. She never answered.

ILVERMORNY YEARS: Liddy found that the teachers at Ilvermorny did appreciate her willingness to learn. She felt like an outsider, still, so she did not enjoy a better social climate than she had in elementary school, but she had wizard's chess and crossword puzzles. It seemed lame, but she was soon the school chess champion, soon being personally tutored by the club sponsor. She even competed in the American Crossword Puzzle Youth Tournament every year since her third year. She's placed first twice now.

None of this changed much at school. She's not popular. She has very few friends, and the friends she has are not people she particularly likes beyond their convenience. She enjoys the company of a few choice teachers and has joined the exchange program committee as a favor for her chess tutor.

None of her brothers have gotten letters, nor shown signs of magic. It's a fact that distresses her, especially because it makes her father see her as more Camille than anything.
