GENERAL APPEARANCE: Brown haired and somewhat mousey, Phoenix doesn't let that stop her from looking different. With a variety of hair colors and usually covered in some sort of paint / dye / color explosion, Phoenix lets her personality shine. When at school she keeps her hair in a regular red color, just red enough that you can tell it's not her natural color, but not out of place to be distracting. During the holidays however, she can be seen with anything from yellow, to green, to blue hair. Her clothes are usually simplistic however, leggings and a tanktop with a pullover jacket, or jeans and a hoodie when she's not in her school uniform.

FATHER: Archibald Carter [Divorced] – Muggle lawyer who always wished his daughter was more normal than she is.  Divorced from Amanda Carter after finding out she was a witch, has very little to do with the family, but still sees Phoenix occasionally.

MOTHER: Amanda Wainwright [Divorced] – Apothecary owner in a small town in upper England. Encourages Phoenix in her artistic abilities and supplies her with the things she needs for her art.

OTHER: Cats: Momo, Salem, and Speed – Momo is a white persian cat who's very stuck up and doesn't like to hang out with the family. Salem is a black cat who never leaves Phoenix's side. Speed is Siberian kitten who never sits still and is constantly racing around the house.

EARLY YEARS: Phoenix had a rather a-typical childhood. She grew up in London proper with her mother and father, both happily married except for the small instance of Amanda never telling Archibald about her magical powers. When Phoenix was born, the family lived in a small farmhouse just outside of town, but that didn't stay for long. They moved a lot as a small child as her fathers work kept sending them around to strange places. By the time Phoenix was five, she'd moved more than six times, though she enjoyed it, she was always ready to pick up and move again. When Phoenix was six she had her first display of magic which led to her mother having to tell her father about her abilities. Archibald couldn't handle it and a year later they divorced, leaving Phoenix to live with her mother, who packed up and moved for one final time to a small northern village near the Scottland border.

Here Phoenix started to shine in her artistic talents, she'd spend days helping her mother gather herbs for the shop, and night she spent drawing, scribbling, painting, sculpting, and collecting trinkets which she'd turn into sculptures. Having lived with muggle technology, she was used to things like computers, which she used regularly to look up artists, and get inspiration from the things she saw. It was no surprise when she got her letter to Hogwarts, and Amanda shipped her daughter off to school.

HOGWARTS YEARS: Phoenix loved every aspect of Hogwarts. With Salem by her side, she explored the school and devoted her time to finding interesting items for her sculptures and paintings. It was here she took an interest in making her own paints (with the help of her herbology teacher). She was a bit different from others, but that didn't stop her from having the time of her life. She spent an adequate amount of time on her studies, and made sure she understood what she needed to, but never focused on it to any extent. She simply accepted her average grades with good grace.

Her friend group was all but non-existent however, she spent many days alone or with her cat, exploring the grounds, painting, or just generally being alone. She didn't mind and actually enjoyed the solitude. Her mother worried about her social life, but didn't argue. When Phoenix was fourteen she discovered a love for changing her hair color, and she never went back. Her mousey brown hair was changed to red while at school, and much more colorful at home, and she never looked back. Now at sixteen, Phoenix devotes herself to her art and occasionally can be seen doing homework when she has to, though she tends to stay away from people, she can be seen curled up with Salem in front of the fire, or in weird corridors and empty classrooms, a small satchel in hand as she collects strange things around the castle.

Phoenix seems most like a Ravenclaw to me, what with her creativity and experimentation in artistry. However, we know the Sorting Hat takes into account the character's values, so can you tell me what Phoenix values or looks up to that would make her a Hufflepuff or a Gryffindor?

Otherwise, this looks great.

Oh, I was thinking Gryffindor because she enjoys going around and exploring to find things, Hufflepuff because she does have aspects of the other houses, including Ravenclaw like you said. Thanks!
