Ever since their attempt at flirting had fallen like a lead balloon, Selwyn had been able to feel the tension between himself an Adrienne. They hadn't mentioned the encounter since. He because he was afraid of offending her again. He wasn't sure why she didn't bring it up, but he could guess that it had something to do with being embarrassed.
Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on your perspective, it hadn't lasted long. Selwyn had had to return to the school where he'd been promoted to Head of Slytherin and couldn't get away as often as he might have been able to last year. On the other hand, it wasn't as though the situation had been resolved. In fact, he felt like this drawing out was going to make it impossible to overcome.
And then there was that whole thing with Dakota. Who knew a fourth year's love life would bring him perspective on his own?
Being the Magical Creatures Professor at least had some perks. Like having unlimited access to the school owls.
