Watery depths

Calixta had become intrigued by the lake. Somewhere down there, the Slytherin Common Room looked out under the waters. Somewhere there was an entire Mermish village. There was even a giant squid, if what people said was true.

Exactly what she hoped to accomplish by simply staring into it, she hadn't quite worked out. But this was that awkward period of time in between her classes and it wasn't as though Calixta had made a lot of friends to fill up her schedule socialising with. It wasn't as though she had anything to lose by wasting a few hours out here.

Gypsy smiled as she walked through the grounds. So far this was her favorite time of the day. the part where she got to do what he liked. and sometimes she even got to see her sisters and brother. But not today. today she wondered down by the lake until she came across another girl who sat beside the lake. she would be perfect for prank if gypsy could think of something good. but she had already used all her good ideas on the girls in her house. pursing her lips Gypsy skipped up behind the girl. "hey what cha doing" she asked loudly

Calixta winced as her thinking time was interrupted. Not that she minded being interrupted, in fact she welcomed it. But someone had not yet been informed that their indoor voice could also be used out of doors.

She turned and was unsurprised to see it was a Hufflepuff. Something just drew Hufflepuffs to her, it seemed. Perhaps it was her destiny to turn them into respectable members of the community. At least it hadn't been Gryffindors.

"Baking a cake," she answered dryly. Surely the other girl could see what she was, or more obviously, was not doing?

"And why are you out here, if I may be so bold?" she added.

"OOh, Cake!" Gypsy smiled giggling at the girl, "Yummy." Obviously she wasn't baking a cake. Not quite possible out by the lake, But she wasn't going to let that stop her from commenting on the thought of cake. Who didn't like cake?
"I'm outside!" the first year chirped happily when the girl asked what she was doing. "So much better than those dark drab class rooms in there. Who wants to be stuck in side?" She asked tilting her head to the side as she asked her question. "and i haven't been able to find my sisters lately. You haven't seen them, Have you? First years, look a lot like me? In fact almost identical except my hair and eyes are darker." She started rambling

Someone was excited. From the way she talked, Calixta assumed this was the girl's unsubtle way of letting her know she was a triplet. Poor child probably didn't get enough attention at home. Calixta was so lucky there was only her and her brother.

"Sorry, I haven't," she answered.

"They've probably found some new friends," she added. "It is the first day. You should try doing the same or you'll end up on your own all term."

She glanced behind them, to where the trees of the forest grew right down to the edge of the lake.

"You probably don't want to go look in there, do you?" she asked. "I mean, it's not really a Hufflepuff thing to do."
