Sweet Charity

Destrey's dress clung to her body and looked like it was made entirely of white thread. Now that Cass had graduated, it seemed their parents had decided she and her siblings were mature enough to become the face of the family's charitable endeavours. It didn't stop Destrey doing her best to make everyone think the worst of her.

She was hung off Shylock's elbow, and it was making her irritable. Of course Destrey knew intellectually that he was ill and going to these things was harder for him than anyone else. She just had a hard time bringing herself to care. Especially when he went and wore eyeliner and charmed his hair bright red and she was worried he might look hotter than her. To be honest, if he wasn't her twin brother, she probably would've been tempted.

Cassabian and Lusk were paired up similarly, if more modestly dressed. Monroe was off chatting to people who needed to be chatted to, and doubtless steering the most important people away from his degenerate siblings.

Isobella sighed as she looked around the room at everyone attending the charity. Looking down at her clothes she gave another sigh. She was wearing a pair of black dress pants with a light blue dress shirt. She wore a pair of four inch Mary Janes. The shoes weren't something she wanted to wear but she was told to wear dress shoes. Unfortunately for her the only dress shoes that she owned were high heeled. She looked down at her feet as she retied her apron around her waist.

"You okay Bella?" She asked her accent suggesting that she was from Ireland.

"Yeah, just nearly lost my apron." Bella said with a smile. She picked up her tray and began weaving through the throng of people.

She began pausing near people to see if they were interested in what she was holding. She didn't want to think of what it was that she was carrying. It smelled funky to her nose and she regretted picking up the tray. She walked around for a full twenty minutes before the tray was emptied. Returning to the kitchen in the back where she needed to grab another tray.

The woman who was in charge of the servers handed her a bottle of white wine. She took it with the instructions to fill eveyone's glass that had white wine of course. Bella began saying her mantra that she had been saying since she started the job here.

'This is for Rose as well as myself. I need this to save up for vacation.' She repeated to herself as she walked around the people. Some of them gave her a disgusted look but the rest of them gave her small smiles.

Just as she was walking back to the kitchen, the unthinkable happened. A woman was talking a lot with her hands, her glass was in one hand. The woman flung her hand that had a hold of the glass and ended up throwing it's contents all over Bella's shirt. Letting out a gasp of surprise she blinked as she looked down at her shirt. The woman gave her a look and then went back to talking to the people around her.

Bella walked to the kitchen quickly to get out of being stared at. Once back there she went to the sink to wash her face free of the wine.

As Destrey wandered around the function and tried to avoid mingling as much as possible, a whisper reached her ears.

"...to save up for vacation."

Oh? Interesting.

Destrey untwined her arm from her brother's and followed the sopping girl to the kitchens.

It was, of course, bustling back here. She ought to have thought of that. White wasn't a good colour to wear in a kitchen. And there was the girl, over by the sinks. Such a baby.

"Oh my god, are you okay?" Destrey clucked in sympathy. "I saw everything. That woman is like that every time. At the Gala Ball, she spilt an entire plate of hors d'oeuvres over one of our biggest donors."

She had to get out of here. It was only a matter of time before one of these kitchen hands got something on her own dress.

Bella finished washing her face and started drying it when she heard a voice. Taking the cloth from her face and looking at the woman next to her.

"Yeah I'm fine. It's not the first time that I've had someone fling wine on me. It happens and I thankfully brought an extra shirt with me." She said with a small smile. Hearing about the other incident made her glad it was just wine. "I hope that nothing bad happened after that." She grabbed her bag from beneath a table off the side of the sink. Reaching in she pulled out another shirt in the same color. It was different in design from the one she wore. This one was a v-neck cut out shoulder design.

Hearing the woman who was running everything shout her name and something about hurrying up. Bella nodded and looked at the woman next to her, "Sorry I have to get back to work." She said as she walked quickly to the restroom back there. Coming back out with her shirt changed went and grabbed another bottle of wine quickly disappearing into the crowd. She began to wonder why the woman came to see if she was okay. She began looking around as she served the people she was supposed to and couldn't shake the feeling of curiosity of the woman.



Bella was cleaning up the tables while the rest of the waitress' went home except two others. She finished cleaning everything up before the guys who set up the table came to break them down. She walked back to where her things were and gathered them up as she walked back out to where the tables were. She looked around the room when she saw something laying down near one of the tables. Walking over to it she found it was a black clutch purse that was laying there. She picked up and wondered where the owner of it was as she walked back towards the kitchen with it. She was going to put it in the office for the manager to see the next day in case the person came back.
