Christian didn't understand what everyone was on about. Nothing, in his opinion, was really wrong with his relationship with Lucy. She could be a bit temperamental, but he had felt from the beginning that it was possible for her to get more out of life if she only let him try and help. That in itself, he had been informed, was a stupid way to think about it. But he couldn't exactly help the fact that he cared for her. Whether or not Lucy was rather rude to people who weren't Slytherins like she was, he felt it wasn't the only way she could act. Surely she just acted that way because she was not confident in herself?
Christian liked to think he knew her better than anyone else, despite the fact that he was so obviously wrong about her. Lucy, as a person, was pretty much terrible. She tended to act differently around Christian as compared to most everyone else, though nobody had been brave enough to say so. Kit Avery had nearly spoken up, but her newfound shyness had kept her from actually going through with it.
Typically, Christian would have spent his evening in his dormitory, or perhaps even with Lucy, but he had an essay due at the end of the week, so the Hufflepuff found himself in the library. He was sitting towards the front of the stacks, hoping to keep focused by remaining in the sight of the librarian, who of course was not a fan of people talking too loudly.
