The year is 2014. Five years have passed since the zombie apocalypse, otherwise known as The Pale Wars when the reanimated dead were hunted and killed by armed groups of militia. In estimation, over 140,000 corpses were reanimated and while lives were lost, both human and Undead, a solution was eventually found in the form of a medication called Neurotriptyline, which is capable of rebuilding brain function and returning the mind of a rabid zombie to the state it was in before having died. These medicated zombies, officially referred to as sufferers of Partially Deceased Syndrome (or PDS), were given contact lenses, cosmetics, and daily injections in order to help them conceal their physical nature and they were placed back into society, a society that views PDS sufferers (or "Rotters" as they are often referred to by a cruel society) with prejudice.
