Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Not knowing everything Empty Not knowing everything

Anya walked into the bar grabbed her usual from the bartender giving him a nice tip before finding the darkest corner. Taking off her cloak and placing it on the back of the chair then taking out the papers that she found about vampires. She may have been a vampire for five years but she knew nothing about what vampires were and did. She hated not knowing and was desperately trying to find a way to not have to completely depend on blood to survive. She hated what she had become and she hated not knowing what she was capable of. Going through the papers but it was basically all the same and she groaned in frustration. She then started ripping up the pages with calculated precision making sure that you couldn't make out anything on them.

Anya sighed as she drank slowly from her cup ignoring the whispering she could hear from beside her. Most of the regular patrons that came in there left her alone when she came in and didn't care she was a vampire. The rest of them she ignored but sometimes if they were bugging her badly enough she told them off and they never bothered her ever again. Today however she just ignored them as she slowly sipped at her drink trying to think of anything else she could find on being a vampire. Rubbing a single hand down her face she glared at her cup thinking that she was nothing but a mindless blood sucking monster.

If there was one thing Darren was known for, he would probably claim that it was his cynical nature and need to irritate those around them. Those who didn't know him, though, would probably suggest it was the dark gaze that he used to sweep across everyone he passed, while he tried to size them up. He was so attentive regarding others that he often failed to notice what he must look like to others. Good looks aside, Darren didn't always come off as attractive to those around him because he tended to have a disapproving frown on his face at any given moment.

For once, Darren was not walking into the Leaky with the intention of bothering whomever he found there. Declan, behind the bar, often did what he could to keep from chuckling at the younger man's antics. But the owner would often cut in if it seemed to be getting a little out of hand. When Darren walked in, the older man gave a nod, pouring up his typical glass of rum, and set it down in front of Darren before wandering off again.

Despite the fact that he should probably have noticed the girl sitting next to him as soon as he sat down, it took Darren pulling out his social psychology textbook and lifting the glass to his lips for him to glance over at the woman in question.

His eyes fell to he pages in front of her, one eyebrow lifting when he realized what she was studying. Immediately, he looked to her drink, his eyebrow lowering so he could tug both of them together. Everyone else in the pub, he noticed, seemed to be doing a fairly good job of avoiding her gaze, and even seemed to be trying not to look in her direction unless it was out of mere curiosity. And she seemed rather comfortable with it.

Despite his original plans of getting some notes written out ahead of time, Darren lifted his glass to his lips, and just started watching her, waiting for her to look up or say something.

Anya looked up seeing someone sit down next to her and stared at him with one eyebrow arched. She leaned back in her chair crossing one of her legs over the other as she crossed her arms. She cocked her head slightly to the side but refused to say anything. She wondered why the man sat down at the same table as her. Seeing his eyes go to the papers in front of her she then waited for him to glare at her or worse. She picked up her drink and took a long drab from it, putting it back on the table she continued to look at him.

"You know it is rude to stare at people and not say a word. From your reactions to the papers on the table and looking at my cup, you know what I am." Anya said continuing to look at him with her head cocked sideways. "My only question is why are you still sitting here knowing what I am?" She looked at him and smiled softly knowing that she just might frighten him away. Anya was only curious as to what the young man was gonna say and what he would do. So she sat there smiling softly with her head cocked to the side then taking small sips from the cup in front of her.

If he wasn't so intent on irritating the girl next to him, Darren would have realized how bizarre they looked to be staring each other down as they were. It wasn't normal, he knew, but very few things the man ever did could be considered normal. Especially when it came to other people. His daily routine, the things he ate, all of that was perfectly sensible. But he did not often do average things when around strangers. It was all something of a social experiment he put on out of sheer curiosity. That was his singular claim to being a Ravenclaw: the curiosity that drove him to know so much. He liked being able to prove others wrong. It tended to make them angry, which was always a bonus.

Breaking the norm was his life, and the norm was dreadfully boring after so many years of ignoring it. So when she spoke and stared back at him, he merely smirked at her over the rim of his glass before setting it down. One elbow rested on the table as he turned to face her more directly, and Darren took a moment to sweep his gaze over her. His main point of uncertainty was why she was smiling at him when her words suggested she was quite unamused.

"My question," he returned, making a fist with the hand resting on the table so he could set his chin atop it and look over at her, "is why you're pretending you don't mind it."

He narrowed his eyes at her briefly before continuing. "You're smiling as though you don't care, or actually are pleased by my being here, but you certainly don't present such ideals through your tone. If you were truly pleased with having someone sit with you, you would not immediately accuse them of judging you so harshly. I, on the other hand, don't care who you are, and did not intend to leave because of it," Darren pointed out, trying to prove to her that she had read him wrong. "I just wanted to see what you would do if I seemed curious. Defensive," he noted. "Interesting."

Anya shook her head and said, "Well for one I don't care anymore what people think of me. I have been a vampire for five years and been called everything under the sun. The one thing that I can't stand is when someone sits down, looks at the papers in front of me. Then eyes my glass before looking at me, it shows that you take in everything around you." She took another sip before continuing. "The last time someone did that it was because they wanted me to turn them into the same hell that I live. I however will never do that to someone. I was never given the change and even if I was I would never choose this."

Looking at him as he spoke she grinned even more, "Well seems like your going to a college for a degree in psychology considering your words. The only reason I judge most people so harshly is when they are staring at me like a bug under a microscope." She said as she leaned back in her chair still looking at him. "It also explains the fact that the book you have is about social psychology. So it would confirm my suspicion about you going to school for it."
