Pepper decided that whatever her fellow Ravenclaw appeared to be reading, it was something that she shouldn't look forwards to. It appeared to be very boring if her continued glances away from the pages indicated anything - perhaps she had already read it before? Regardless, Pepper bit her lip slightly and decided it would be acceptable for her to continue reading her book, if this girl was doing the same.
Worrying her lip between her teeth, Pepper stroked the feathers on her owl bookmark as she removed it from her place within her own book. The pages became a welcome distraction from the, admittedly rather small, interaction with the girl sitting across from her. In a way, it was pleasant, not feeling pressured to speak and make conversation interesting as both were busy with other things.
"I uhm, I'm reading a book about wand making." Pepper replied, glancing up from the line she had been reading to make eye contact with the other girl "My parents bought it for me." she added, injecting a little bit of personal information into the conversation for a change.
Smiling, her usual small smile, at Tiffany, Pepper inclined her head in greeting. It was always nice to meet the people of her house, even if they didn't become fast friends - they would still be able to pass the time of day with each other.
"Pleased to meet you Tiffany, I'm Pepper." she replied, with a slightly wider smile.
