Update Notes

Hey members!

Yes, you may use the forum again. But first, take the time to read what we have done. There are many, many changes to the site and it's not all done yet either.

Graphics:
First, you will notice that the skin has changed. We had a light theme for a long time so I decided to go with a darker one for our new one. Note that this new skin has a lot more CSS than the old one, so you might encounter some bugs. If you do, just point it out to us and we will fix it. Hope you like it.

Coding
We added quite a lot of scripts to make the site more accessible. I'll describe them briefly.

First, you will note that we now have a word counter in the RP sections of our forum. This script will also not allow you to post unless you have over 100 words.

Next, we have a script that will save your posts in progress. So even if you hit the back button or close your browser, your posts will be saved!

You can now toggle categories you don't usually post in OFF to decrease the length of the forum index.

Lastly, we have a new weather widget which changes weather automatically every seven days.

Chatbox
We now have a new chatbox. With this chatbox we can now moderate and more efficiently deal with any future spam bots. You can also register your name, and use avatars. Best of all, the chatbox now autorefreshes!

Miscellaneous

Hogwarts will have LOADS of new surprises for student families, and with that comes some new job opportunities. So please jump right into the site plot, if you haven't,  because there are lots of new things there for you.

Speaking of Hogwarts, if you had threads there that you'd like to continue, we simply moved them so we could close the school for summer cleaning.  Your threads are probably here:  https://www.pottersarmy.net/f10-alternate-universe

Diagon Alley and Knockturn Alley have a new business or two, with new job opportunities there, too! Be sure to check out Babbity Rabbity's for family fun!

If you haven't checked it out, I want to point out the Award Forum. Matt started it and has done excellently, so make sure you check it out and post there often!

Hogsmeade has a new enchanted park for outdoor fun

And--there is a temporary summer forum for summertime fun.  Create your own adventure at a Wizarding Renaissance Festival.  Or take in some perfect beach vacationing at the beach resort in southern France. If adventure is your thing, grab a friend and go help Charlie Weasley on his quest for dragons and dragon eggs. And if none of that suits you, why not travel so some exotic corner of the world and create your own adventure. But do it quickly. The summer forums will close approximately September 1st or at the start of Fall term at Hogwarts--whichever comes first.

We've cleaned things up, shined and polished it, and made it look sparkling fresh.  You'll find you have a few more things you can control with your profile information instead of needing us to do so much of it for you. So check that out!

Site plot is continuing to evolve, so please, please get involved. And if you're not sure how to get involved in site plot, go to our new "Jump On" thread and simply let us know you want to get involved. At the Ministry, we've brought the Atrium for play and we've added, instead of the staff lounge, the Ministry Munchies Café mentioned in canon.  Again, another chance for job opportunities.

St. Mungos has been redesigned in order to help you visualize the hospital a bit better and to find your way around, hopefully, easier.


I'm pretty sure I missed quite a lot of other things we did. But I'm getting sleepy.

Accordion

The accordion returns, it used to be a great way to give information other than the sidebar so we brought it back. However, due to time constraints it is still under construction. Should be done in the next few days.

The forum will remain in a general state of construction for the next few days. Expect several more changes. However, we will keep the forum online for the rest of the changes.

Thanks for putting the awesome new update together! It looks amazing!

I was wondering if you guys were planning to make the Gryffindor names just a little lighter? It's a tad harder to see than everything else, but it's not too awful.

That should be better.

Glad you like it! I think its one of our best looks yet. I just want folks to go prowl around all the new things and the new locations and have a good time.
