The sycamore makes a questing wand, eager for new experience and losing brilliance if engaged in mundane activities. It is a quirk of these handsome wands that they may combust if allowed to become ‘bored,’ and many witches and wizards, settling down into middle age, are disconcerted to find their trusty wand bursting into flame in their hand as they ask it, one more time, to fetch their slippers. As may be deduced, the sycamore’s ideal owner is curious, vital and adventurous, and when paired with such an owner, it demonstrates a capacity to learn and adapt that earns it a rightful place among the world’s most highly-prized wand woods.

Unicorn hair generally produces the most consistent magic, and is least subject to fluctuations and blockages. Wands with unicorn cores are generally the most difficult to turn to the Dark Arts. GENERAL APPEARANCE: Anastasia has her Mother's features. The dark hair, the slim build, the brown eyes and puffy lips. She resembles her Father in no way whatsoever, something that used to get to her at times. However, this is because her Father isn't the dirty-blonde, almost weedy looking Theodore Nott. Her Father is Augustus Rookwood, tall, well built. Anastasia is tall for her age and this is something inherited from her biological Father along with the wide nose.
Her clothes, like her sister and brother, are of a high quality which is no surprise as she has been raised a typical pure blood. In spite of that her clothes were never bought from her Father, if on the rare occasions he took the children to Diagon Alley (this was a task Pansy usually did) Her sister and Alexander would receive new clothes whilst she'd inherit her older sisters outgrown clothes. This of course doesn't make up her entire wardrobe because Pansy made sure her style was up to standard and current. Ana likes to have her hair in different styles, sometimes with flowers in or a headband around.

PERSONALITY

TRAITS:
+ Friendly. Anastasia has always wanted a friend. As a child she was always seconded to her sister and brother by her Father. Her Father was someone's approval, attention and love that she sought and never received. Because of this Ana goes out of her way to make sure she is friendly so people like her and don't cast her aside.
+ Determined. Because Ana has been forever in Alexander and her sisters shadow, at least where her Father is concerned, she has always worked hard to prove herself and show that she is just as worthy. This has been a constant battle and, to this very day, is something that has driven the determination within Ana. This determination is perhaps what Anastasia prides most about herself.
+ Hardworking. Forever working hard for her family's approval - especially her Father and Alexander (the latter of which shows no attention to his younger sister since her sort into Gryffindor). Her hardworking nature goes hand in hand with the determination routed inside her core.
+ Self doubtful. Naturally being raised in a relationship where only one parent ever seemed to love her Anastasia doubted herself. Her own flaws became the centre of her personality and what she saw in the mirror bringing rise to the self doubt.
+ Cunning. Granted Anastasia isn't the daughter of Theodore Nott, nor a Slytherin but she still is Pansy Parkinson-Notts child. Pansy, one the most cunning in the family, gladly taught her daughter the ways in which a cunning mind can help. Granted it isn't as developed as Pansy's but she is cunning but usually uses it in a more fun, positive way.
+ Appreciative. Anastasia appreciates everything she has. On trips to Diagon Alley any poorer children Ana noticed and related too unlike her brother and sister who would merely stay clear of them. Instead Ana was more interested in getting to know them and she soon realised how privileged she was, even if she did feel forgotten at times.
+ More practical than theoretical. Theodore Nott has the brains, which have been inherited by Alexander and her sister. Ana however has some intelligence, only merely average. This has been a problem because Ana fails to top her older siblings academically for her Father's attention. Why? Because she isn't a Nott. Not all of the Rookwoods are the brightest of sparks and intelligence isn't entirely environmental. It's genetic. Anastasia excels in the practical areas of magic but anything theoretical she simply doesn't care for.
+ Courageous. Unlike the other Notts who would protect others before themselves Ana has the courage to do the opposite. She would risk her life for the benefit of others. This is no doubt because after not receiving the same love of her brother and sister she has developed some compassion and had to stand on her own two feet for no family member would do that for her.

Unlike her siblings she seeks no pleasure in materialistic possessions and she finds artwork, and classical music loathingly dull. She'd much rather be doing something active and outdoorsy than sitting in a room eating a scone with a cup of sugary tea. That she will never seek her family's approval. Her Father doesn't seem to care for her as much as he should, her Brother stopped being giving her attention when she was sorted into Gryffindor and she is worried that she will never get to prove her worth.
Anastasia is also scared of snakes. As a child Alexander, their sister and Ana were playing at the far boundary of Nott Manner where the grass is thicker and less tamed. Ana had been lying in the grass hiding from her brother during a game of hide and seek and a grass snake slithered up her dress and bit the top of her leg, getting it's tail caught in her underwear. Ana forever has a scar just below her bottom. As a result the boggart would take the form of a giant snake.
PATRONUS: (Fondest Memory)
Like her brother and sister who have happy memories of living a childhood of luxury Anastasia has those same memories. However these are not necessary happy to the Gryffindor they are simply plain old memories. She was never truly happy as a child because of the fear that her Father didn't love her like he loved her sister and Alexander. In spite of that Anastasia does have happy memories. Hogwarts. Initially she was sorted into Gryffindor wanted Slytherin to prove to her Father she is just as much a Nott as Alexander and her sister. Crestfallen at being sorted into Gryffindor she soon realised it was the best thing that happened to her and has made strong friends and it is the times with her friends at Hogwarts that'll help her conjure a patronus.
DEMENTOR: (Worst Memory)
Her worst memory is perhaps the memory of when she was bitten by a snake in the garden. However, all memories of times when her Father would not include her, instead he'd ignore her and favour her sister and Alexander aren't exactly happy memories. Anastasia is greatly affected by dementors, it could be because she's missed half of the love and attention a child should receive. When dementors are near, (not that have yet been near) Anastasia feels hollow, empty as though there is a problem with her and that she should simply not exist.

When Anastasia looks into the mirror she would see her Father behind her, a proud smile on his face and a hand on her shoulder. That is all she wants, his approval for his approval would be evidence of his love for her.
PERSONALITY:
Anastasia isn't like a pureblooded Nott. Of course she has lived the wealthy lifestyle but the teenager was never engrossed by it. She felt the outcast often and saw, on trips to Diagon Alley, Quidditch Games and Hogsmede that there were people in worst situations that her. People who couldn't afford the high end robes that they wore and this made her more appreciative of what she has unlike Alexander and . She is caring, friendly and simply wants to be liked and have friends and her family love her.
Ana is more tolerant of other people than the rest of her family. Blood purity doesn't bother her, it isn't a deal breaker she feels everyone should be treated the same as there is enough evil in the world. She considers herself friends with the house elf rather it be a servant to the family and is fond of animals.

Anastasia doesn't know any of her Grandparents apart from Bertha as they were sent to Azkaban before her birth after being captured at the battle of Hogwarts. However she is quiet fond of Bertha and enjoys seeing her on special occasions or family meetings.

Anastasia is unaware Augustus is her biological Father. Pansy has had several affairs, most merely sexual and the affair with Rookwood was simply that. It was a mistake Pansy regrets as she fell pregnant with Anastasia during the lustful affair.
FATHER: Theodore Tobius Nott
Theodore, knowing that Anastasia wasn't his biological daughter, accepted her as his own to protect the Nott family name. His sister Tatiana had almost ruined it when she fell pregnant with a muggle he couldn't allow his wife's adultery dent their family crest. However although Theodore claimed to accept Anastasia as his own daughter he never really did. He would always favour Alexander and her sister. Ask what they wanted, give them whatever they asked for, teach them how to fly, help them read and write. This was something he never found the time to do with Ana and so she felt forgotten and pushed aside. Irregardless of the way her Father ignored her Ana still fought hard for his approval. All she wants is do him proud and prove his worth.
At Hogwarts Ana writes to her parents, she even writes Theodore private letters but never receives a reply. It's always her Mother who replies and when she does respond Pansy writes 'on behalf of both of them' meaning just herself.
MOTHER: Pansy Parkinson-Nott
Pansy noticed that Theodore didn't love Anastasia how he promised but there was simply nothing that she could do. It did hurt to see her child saddened at times but the witch simply ignored this, blaming herself for her daughters sadness. In spite of that she did make sure whenever she did something with the children that Ana was included just as equally as Alexander and her sister. It is perhaps because of this that Anastasia loves her Mother and is closer to her. Not that this means much for it is still her Father who she wants love from.
Since being sorted into Gryffindor Anastasia is rarely mentioned to anyone outside of the family from even her Mother. Of course Pansy will gladly bring Alexander up in conversation, her favourite child, and even her sister too.
BROTHER: Alexander Theodore Nott & SISTER: ____ Nott Anastasia once was close to her siblings but when they both went off to Hogwarts she was the only child in the house. Just her, the Nanny and a house elf. The day she received her Hogwarts letter Anastasia thought it would be the rebirth of their relationship but she was wrong. For starters she was sorted into Gryffindor but despite that Ana realised that even her sister and Alexander weren't as close as they used to be. Perhaps that was part of growing up? The first year she appeared the annoying younger sister, begging for their attention, wanting to show off the spells she learned. Neither of them cared - Alexander cared the least. The day she was sorted into Gryffindor was the day that her brother tried to not associate himself with her. He was becoming like their Father. Why? Because he didn't want his pure blooded Slytherin friends to think anything less of him.

This is one of the Nott family's greatest secrets as if the truth were to come out it would bring public shame on the Nott family Unlike the rest of the family Anastasia doesn't look down upon Tatiana. From the stories she has heard she can only relate to her auntie as she too feels the outcast at times.

CHARACTER HISTORY

Early Years:
Pansy Parkinson-Nott and Theodore Nott stopped sleeping in the same bed a year or so before Anastasia was born. Their marriage was simply a marriage out of obligation, or at least that's how it was for Theodore. He tried to please her, gave Pansy all that he could and she would take it. Was she appreciative? No. Did she constitute her vows? No. She was simply with him for the money and the double barrel pure blooded name.
Pansy had numerous affairs, some of them were more than a few nights, others simply the one night. Nine months before the birth of Anastasia Pansy slept with Augustus Rookwood. It was just the one night and when she discovered she was pregnant Pansy didn't want to concern him. He hadn't asked for a baby. All he had wanted was a lay. In an attempt to keep her secret, when Pansy reached two months pregnant she knew she'd need to tell her husband soon about her pregnancy so decided it would be best to lie, trick him. She began to sleep with him again and Theodore was happy, happy as can be. He believed they would have a baby girl and everything would be ay-okay. Of course. Nothing ever turns out perfect. Seven months later their baby was born, a healthy baby that wasn't premature. Theodore realised his wife had lied. He knew that she'd had affairs but turned a blind eye to them, some would call him foolish but he simply didn't want to lose her for they'd already had two children by that point.
Theodore left Pansy for a few weeks after the birth, he stayed in the Leaky Cauldron as to not draw the attention of his rocky marriage to his brother Louis. During this time Pansy Parkinson-Nott filled out the birth certificate, leaving the Father's name blank for she didn't want to concern Rookwood in the family matter. He'd done enough as it was.
Theodore soon saw sense. He returned to Pansy, proposed that he would treat Anastasia as his own child as they had other children and a family name to think about. The Nott family crest couldn't be dented with Pansy's mistake. Nobody could find out that Ana wasn't his for he couldn't allow himself to see the family name receive any shame. The pair agreed to keep it a secret more to protect themselves than anybody else.
Anastasia was raised in the family manor house - Nott Manor. She was dressed in stylish, yet classy clothing and was encouraged to play with her siblings whilst her parents and other pure blood friends would enjoy tea and scones. As she grew up she was close to Alexander and her sister, not usually taking the lead in their games but following them for fun. However, when Ana became clever enough she realised that her Father didn't seem to love her as much as he did her siblings. Maybe this was completely in her imagination, at least that is what her Mother suggested whenever Ana raised queries to Pansy, but Anastasia wasn't seeing things. Her Father would leave her out of family games, communicate as little as possible with her. It was clear he favoured Alexander and her sister. Not that either of them noticed they were too wrapped up in the love from their Father. Or if they did notice neither of them seemed to show it. Anastasia felt the outcast, alone and forgotten. No amount of material possessions would make her happy. She just wanted to be loved by her Father how her sister and Alexander were.
Hogwarts Years:
Anastasia arrived at Hogwarts hoping to be placed into Slytherin to prove to her Father that she was just as capable, just as worthy as the Nott title as her siblings. To Ana's disappointment the sorting hat refused her wishes, ignored her begging and placed her into Gryffindor for that is where her 'heart was'. What did the stupid sorting hat know about her heart? It looked into her head, not her heart and her head was saying Slytherin.
Red faced and embarrassed Anastasia walked towards the Gryffindor table looking for her brothers face. She saw it, but he was purposely not looking at her. His eyes were wide in astonishment and it was then Ana realised that if Alexander couldn't accept her then her Father wouldn't. What would he say about her being a Gryffindor? Her sister had been his favourite, she on the other hand had never been his anything but the daughter he didn't seem to want.
That evening Ana sent a letter to her Mother and Father lying and saying she had been sorted into Slytherin. However, the next morning she received a letter from her Mother. Her Mother knew of her place in Gryffindor for Alexander had too written to her parents. The letter was short, brief. A mere: 'There was no need to lie, Anastasia. We know you're a Gryffindor. Enjoy Hogwarts. Mum & Dad' No love.
Possibly. Over the next year Anastasia tried her best to run into Alexander, learning his timetable off by heart to talk to him but it seemed that he didn't care anymore, or he didn't want to be seen with her in front of his Slytherin pure blood friends. Throughout the first year Anastasia learned that her brother and sister weren't that close to each other either. Maybe it wasn't anything personal and that Alexander was simply growing up, he was four years above her.
Anastasia headed home for Christmas in the first year, but it was the last time she did so. Her Father blanked her completely, Pansy simply put up with her and Alexander was too busy writing to his friends and arranging to meet up with them. Summer was pretty much the same. After an entire year at Hogwarts Ana hadn't done anything stand out, hadn't done anything to prove to her Father her worth. She'd passed all her exams but her results were nowhere near the standard of Alexander and her sister.
Entering the second year Ana accepted that she couldn't cling to Alexander and her sister, she needed to go down her own path to find out what she was destined to do. She made solid friendships and had a fun year really appreciating life as a Gryffindor student at Hogwarts. One thing she noticed was that her sister had now become colder and entered the pure blood mania that the rest of her family were entranced by. Little did Anastasia know the reason for this was because her sister had her heart broken by a muggle born.
During he second year Anastasia selected electives to study for the upcoming year. Still wanting to show her Dad what she was capable of Ana, using the cunning from her Mother, managed to steal Alexander's timetable and made a note of the electives he chosen. Ana copied, signing up for care of magical creatures, arithmancy and study of ancient runes. Theodore wasn't bothered by her choices, he merely told her 'that's nice' when she informed her parents the summer between second and third year.
During her third year Anastasia discovered that her choice of care of magical creatures had been a wise one. She loved animals and the practical side of it was perfect, complementing her more practical mind and skills as opposed to theoretical garbage she didn't really care about - cue arithmancy and ancient runes. Anastasia completed third year, still the forgotten child in the family as far as her Father and brother were concerned but she remained closer to her sister. Granted they weren't best friends but at least Ana had a companion in the family now.
The majority of Anastasia's fourth year was much of the same as her previous years at Hogwarts, however with a slight difference. Although Alexander had always gave his younger sister the cold shoulder and remained secure in his tight knit group of pure bloods and, who Anastasia suspected to be dark followers, still she had been aware of his presence. Not only was Alexander busy working at the ministry but her sister was also nowhere to be seen, no doubt she had her nose in a book in a place called the library that Anastasia didn't tend to venture to. Although Anastasia was perhaps closer to her sister it was always her brother she had gone to for help and, in another attempt to prove her Father of her capabilities, she'd decided to hone in on what she found interesting. Perhaps she would excel better in those areas and the halo would form above her head in her Father's eyes. Anastasia wrote to Alexander for advice but his response wasn't nice. Instead of providing her with Quidditch tips to help her on the team he instead refused to help her in anyway whatsoever until her act was reformed. He told her she needed to stop associating with mudbloods, to value pure blood traditions and then maybe their Father would notice them. Alexander was essentially telling Anastasia that she was an ugly duckling who needed to lose every essence of who she was and be someone she wasn't, embrace a culture that she had never quite understood.
Naturally during the holidays Anastasia was a little wary of Alexander although she soon found it in her heart to forgive him when he willingly took his younger sister under her wing and allowed her to stay at his cottage after an argument between Pansy, Theodore and Anastasia broke out almost resulting in her Father cursing her into oblivion after withdrawing his wand in rage. Now feeling even more disconnected from her Father Anastasia is trying to come to terms with what she must have done wrong and so plans on asking Alexanders wife, Isadora, an outsider of their family circle for advice.------------------------------------------------------------

PURPOSE OF CHARACTER: I was wanting a new character, a canon character, then saw a typo of a Rookwood in the canon list. The idea of Anastasia sprung to mind and then she was created. For family plotting and the purpose of falling in love with the character.
