General Appearance: (Khaat is avg. ht and weight with a well toned and muscular appearance. Khaat used to be far more comfortable in simple jeans and cotton shirt with the sleeves rolled up to 3/4. Now she is far more of a fashion plate. She loves clothes and has a massive, celebrity style closet chuck full of clothes for every occasion. She prefers silks and natural fabrics, and likes simple elegance and classics, deploring faddish styles. She loves tall, stilletto heels. Her well toned and small figure acts more like a fashion hanger. Almost anything looks good on her. She wears an unusual necklace that she has worn since birth. The necklace is an unusual green stone about the size of an american dime. the stone has a sparkling essence to it as if it has an intelligence of its own. Khaat does not talk about it with people who she doesn't consider close to her. The stone is mounted in a very unusual silver setting. the necklace is enchanted, does not have a clasp to be removed and was given to her by her uncle and could only be removed by him). Since his death, Khaat has never even thought or attempted to take the necklace off. The stone has many unknown properties, but what she does know is that when she was young, if she was in lifethreatening danger, the stone alerted Remus immediately. It also insulates her from ever manifesting his curse as long as she wears it. Her family does not know if she has the ability to shift to a werewolf because they have never chanced the removal of the protective stone. She has also discovered, by accident, that she could clutch the stone in her right hand and call for Remus or her father and it alterted that she was summoning them. She does not know if it will work to call anyone else or not. She has not tried.
P E R S O N A L I T YSkills: (Khaat's chief interest is Defense Against the Dark Arts. She pursued it as her main course of study and became driven to master it when Remus died. No one knows her exact skill level because she refuses to use it now unless she has to. She knows it is her grief and rage that drives it, and she doesn't want run the chance of that buried werewolf temper in her genetics to drive her to make any fatal mistakes with her magic. So, she choose to try to live a quiet, low profile life unless someone seeks her out for her help. She also is a very skilled healer, and heals, mostly, by touch, although she knows countless healing spells, and understands potions well. She also likes to sketch and paint with watercolors. She likes to walk, run, swim, exercise, garden, cook, ride horses, and loves animals of all sort. She loves music but never attempted to learn an instrument.
Weaknesses: Khaat is a woman of great courage--except that she does not have any confidence in herself when it comes to believing she is attractive. That's what makes her more insecure than anything else. She connects with people not because of what they look like on the outside but who they are on the inside, partly because she does not want to be rejected by someone else if they do not think she is attractive enough for their liking. Her greatest weakness is the grief and anger she still carries even after all these years for Remus's death. She does her best to bury and hide it from anyone , sometimes even herself, that it is still there. Her parents see it but do not discuss it or bring it up. Consequently, she does not have any fear of death. Khaat can be pursuaded relatively easily to go on quests to help the vanquish the dark lord--especially if someone else is either in trouble or being victimized. Hates not having Remus to talk to anymore. When the world truly gets to be too much, she has long conversations with Remus's wizarding portrait that hangs in her room. When things get to be too much for her to deal with, she often just goes and sits in the quiet, alone, at Remus's grave. Because of the severe torture she survive at the hands of Felix Barker, she now has little tolerance to psychologically endure such situations. She dissociates and becomes rather catatonic. When she starts to re-associate again, many times it will leave her temporarily a bit emotionally numb and mute--incapable of speech for awhile.
Likes: likes quiet quality time with close friends, a conversation over coffee or tea, a walk in the woods, or time to sketch or paint. she prefers a homecooked meal with her family or friends more than going out, but does have a great time when she does go out. She is a hopeless addict to strong, black French roast coffee, loves cheesecake, and likes working. Likes firewhiskey, but drinks it straight, able to outdrink many of her male counterparts. Talking w/ Remus's portrait. loves exercising--running, swimming, strength training.
Dislikes: absolutely any sort of injustice or maltreatment of any living creature. anyone who brings up Remus to her. Is not overly fond of even the best tea or of mixed drinks, although she will drink them. Does not like conjured food and prefers food to be prepared by hand. Hates weak coffee, doesn't like flats and almost refuses to wear them unless forced to. Hates to be seen without looking "acceptable."
Motto The sooner Voldemort's influence is gone, the better.
Patronus] Bald Eagle
General Personality: Khaat is outgoing and giving. She has a good sense of humor and is generally pleasant and peaceful . She loves animals, and loves to be helpful to others. She knows that is really what makes her feel her life is worthwhile. She makes friends easily and is extremely loyal to her friends. She has a young bald eagle that often rides on her shoulder when she wears her old, well scarred suede jacket in cooler weather. The eagle's name is Archangel and is a decendant of the magical eagle she used at Hogwarts. Archangel does her owl duties, is her closest companion of any living creature, and is such a fierce protector that people are a bit wary of him until they get to know him. He was a birthday gift to her from her mother who handreared and trained him just as she did the first Archangel. He now wears the miniature duplicate of Khaat's mysterious green stone necklace. Khaat has always suspected there were powers in the companion stone that her eagle wore, but she does not know what those powers are.
Khaat is most comfortable with just a few very close friends. She is outgoing, but she does not share the deeper parts of herself until she finds that loyalty in her new friend. She has a quick fiery temper that is aggravated most rapidly by injustice of any kind. She will and does stand up, regardless of the risk to herself, for someone in trouble or someone being mistreated. She is athletic and loves to exercise.
H I S T O R YFamily Information: Father: Robert Thomas Lupin--alumni of Gryffindor--is a potionsmaster and Master Healer who works now as Chief of Staff for St. Mungos. Also still runs the family farm in a remote part of the rural Cornwall district of England, along the coast. Robert is a quiet, highly intelligent, courageous man who does not posess his brother's impulsivity and therefore fended some of Khaat's raising to Remus because Robert felt Remus could understand and help reel in some of her need to take chances and go adventuring, and help her master that Gryffindor impulsiveness she has. Robert has been a guest lecturer at Hogwarts because of his skill with healing potions, in particular. Robert uses magic now to do most of his farming chores rather than the tedious and tiring muggle methods.
Mother: Katherine "Kate" Elizabeth Lupin--alumni of Gryffindor--specialized in care of magical creatures. helps with the family farm, and helps train and handraise various magical creatures. Kate loves to cook and bake and please her husband and her daughter. Also is very artistic and likes to paint and sculpt and make beautiful handthrown stoneware that she sells in her shop in Diagon Alley. Kate was friends with both Lupin brothers in Hogwarts but grew to love Robert's quiet steadiness more than Remus's bohemian tendencies. She approved of Khaat's iron strong bond to her uncle because she also believed, like Robert, that Khaat would have been "out of hand" without it. Now she feels Khaat would be better with more companions in her life, and in particular a mate who could perhaps help the grief Khaat hides. Khaat has no siblings.
Uncle: Remus Lupin--Khaat's uncle who was also her best friend and confidant. He was her godfather, and he was been her mentor and was a fierce protector of her. He put the green stone necklace on her just moments after her birth and enchanted it so that only he could remove it from her, as far as Khaat knows. Only he and Khaat and her parents knew its true power. Remus used the Lupin farm as a sanctuary and had set of rooms there in the large rambling farmhouse for use when his "handicap", as Khaat calls it, impacted him . When Khaat was born, prior to Teddy, Remus felt he would never have a child of his own because it would not be fair to chance that it would carry his curse. So he doted on Khaat, and she loved him deeply. When Remus died, Khaat took over his rooms to give her more space at her family home. She made the space her own, but she kept anything of his that remained there that she considered sentimental and leaves it in her rooms.

Childhood: Khaat grew up on the Lupin farm, learning care of magical creatures from her mother and defense of the dark arts from her father and her uncle. Her best childhood friend was Brian Quinn, and they were almost inseparable. It was not unusual for her to either play with Brian on the large Lupin farm, or for Remus to take charge of them, teaching them games that would later serve to hone their DADA skills. He also often took the two of them on camping trips in the woods on the farm's property. Khaat remembers her childhood with great happiness.
Hogwarts: Khaat spent her first 4 years at Beaubatons's, choosing there because she was hoping they would make her a "true" lady and that she could experience some adventure at the same time. Khaat was hoping she would graduate and feel more confident in herself in those deep secret innermost reaches of herself. But her heart is always with her home, her family and her close friends. Over her fourth year at Beaubatons, her grades drastically droppped as she became more homesick and Remus persuaded her to apply for transfer to Hogwarts.
Adulthood: After Remus was killed, Khaat's grief nearly, literally, killed her. It required Robert Lupin to take her for a leave from Hogwarts because of how critically ill she had become. It took every ounce of his immense knowledge and skill to save Khaat's life, and it has left deep emotional scars for Khaat and her parents both. When she recovered, she finished her time at Hogwarts, but with a huge struggle. Her outrage over Remus's death kept her committed to finishing her time and kept her committed to battling Voldemort. When she graduated, she retreated to her family farm where she spent the next year isolated and trying to come to terms with Remus's loss. It remains her Achille's heel and intensifies her anger at mistreatment, cruelty, and at anything connected to Voldemort.
Khaat spent 2 years, after she came out of hiding, She returned to the Hogsmeade area where she owns a cottage that her godfather rents from her. She has done some substitute teaching at Hogwarts, but prefers her job as the Director of St. Mungos where she has remodeled and updated the hospital. She also owns a bistro in Diagon Alley called Sparks, which she truly enjoys working at when she has the time, although it is more of an investment property now. She is currently the Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot and a member of the Order of the Phoenix. She is more than willing to commit herself to any cause she believes Remus would have endorsed. She has friends on both sides of the law and is, somehow, able to separate herself and her political beliefs and become neutral when she is in the company of a friend that is a dark arts follower. She is currently married to Brian Quinn, her second marriage. Her first marriage, to Rob Dent, lasted a bit less than a year and did not fare well. Khaat was given all of Rob's British wizarding monies when he abandoned his family for criminal pursuits and she is now very wealthy indeed. Brian Quinn, also independently very wealthy, has come back into her life, and he took her into living in hiding with him when Khaat was discharged from St. Mungos after Abbey's birth to protect her daughter from, primarily, the Dent family, who she believes are not above using Abbey for their own gain. Now they live there, and sometimes travel to their other properties in Tuscany and in Colorado.
Short Roleplay: Khaat walked towards her bistro in the crisp winter air, with Archangel on her shoulder. Khaat thought he seemed unusually agitated ever since she arrived in Diagon Alley this morning. She tried to pet his feathers to soothe him, and he lightly pecked her in irritation. Just a block from the bistro, Archangel snatched her restaurant keys out of her hand and flew off with them, frustrating Khaat and leaving her to call to him helplessly. Suddenly, a huge explosion broke the silence of the morning air, and Khaat saw the windows of the apartment over the bistro shatter as a freball exited the apartment's upper rooms, as the force of the explosion hurled her to the sidewalk.
