It was half past eight, she was running late. That was typical Hallie, her punctuality wasn't fantastic and it seemed the many detentions hadn't taught her anything. However the reason for her lateness was that she hadn't been sleeping well and had over slept. Ever since finding out that her brother Toby was alive and well Hallie had found it difficult to sleep, she wanted to see him but she couldn't. Not yet.
Stepping out of the shower Hallie realised that she needed to be in work for nine o clock - her first day in work as an auror. She wasn't sure what to expect other than someone from the department would go through things with her and they'd be someone for her to shadow for while.
Twenty minutes Hallie had passed on breakfast after perfecting her hair in a quick fishtail braid down her left shoulder and was leaving the house. Thinking hard about her destination, determined to arrive outside the public toilets and with deliberation she turned on the spot before whipping away from her cottage garden and arriving in a busy London street.
She followed a group of witches, who were talking about the trouble they'd been having in the portkey department. down to an underground public bathroom where Hallie flushed herself into the Ministry of Magic Atrium, bursting through green flames of one of the hundreds of fireplaces boarding the Walls.
Five minutes left. She had wanted to get there early so she wasn't rushing to find the department. Of course she had endured her three hour interview there but she had been too focused to take the location to memory.
'Excuse me where is the department for magical law enforcement, auror office?' She asked the welcome witch at the help desk. 'Are you a new employee?' She asked, although before Hallie could answer a detailed plan of the Ministry had been thrusted upon her and luckily she found it, although five minutes later than she needed to be there.
Stepping into the auror office she grinned. It wasn't overly formal. There were separate cubicles with posters of dark wizards, daily prophet cuttings and sweets and magical drinks polluting the tables. There were also Quidditch magazines and she looked around before seeing a rather familiar faith walking over to her. 'Sorry I'm late!' Hallie told Carth, meaning it from her core.
She had worked hard to get there and couldn't believe that being late on her first day was something that had happened.
