Bertie's Summer Plot!!

For those of you who don't know Bertie he is a third year Ravenclaw who loves to get lost in his imagination. He is a rather shy and timid boy, appearing the opposite of an alpha-male at times. He studies hard and doesn't like to get in trouble, sticking to the rules - this is die to his Mum working in a Muggle prison (she is a squib) so she brought him up to obey rules and laws.

I wanted a plot that would strengthen him as a person. I believe that Bertie is a strong chastise already but this isn't always shown as he isn't your typical lads lad. This being I want him to get in trouble! Be faced with an awful road ahead and see how he deals with it, overcomes it and how it leads him to be a stronger person.

So I have been thinking for a while and the plot will be to do with underage magic. Bertie knows not to perform magic outside of Hogwarts and i think that he will perform magic without thinking. My idea is he is home alone and a burglar breaks in, he hears them downstairs grabs his wands and sneaks down, terrified. Then without thinking he hexes the Muggle theif. Then obviously he has to undergo a trial to see what should be decided whether he has his wand snapped, go to Azkaban, simply expelled or given a warning.

I know that Harry didn't receive a trial the first time he 'used' magic but attacking a muffle with magic is quiet serious.

Of course I'd need people to be involved such as someone or people from the department of magical law enforcement.

What are your guys thoughts? Anyone interested? I rather like the idea of Bertie being sent to Azkaban so I can see how he'd cope and how it'd make him stronger but i don't want to seem like I'm setting stone how each RP will end

I doubt he would go to Azkaban for all of that. If the Ministry takes him to trail, Jack would be pissed and definitely run to his aide.

I could have Jude be the prissy higher-up that shows no mercy and pushes for trial.

Vivianna will flip out on his behalf, but other than that I'm not sure now much I'll be able to really get involved in this plot. I have been dying to use MagiChat, however, so I think it would be interesting to have a few MagiChat threads of Viv and Bertie that happen every so often over the whole summer. It could have Bertie constantly updating Viv on details, and Viv checking up on him. I think it would be an interesting way to have them keeping in touch, and we can all watch how Bertie slowly matures. Thoughts?

Maybe the prissy character pushes the decision and sends him to Azkaban for like a month or something ridiculous and then Vivianna and Jack are like hell noo!! And get a petition for his release?

I still don't know that he'd go to prison. That'd be up to the Wizengamot and we have more good guys than bad.

Maybe he is made to do community service in Diagon Alley or something?

Perhaps he gets thrown in a holding cell for a day, for resisting or something? :/

It'd be in a Ministry cell, and only guarded by one dementor. At his age, though, that would be traumatic enough. I'm pretty sure minors can't get thrown in Azkaban unless they do something super heinous. But just that alone would do some damage.

Hmmm. I do like that idea of being in a holding cell for the night. Maybe he uses petrificus totalus on a muggle and due to the nature of the spell someone from the department of magical law comes to his house and arrests him (also modifying the muggles memory) and keeps him in a cell over night to await trial the next day in case he is 'dangerous' I don't know ... Then Bertie could write an article about his experience being 'held hostage' by a dementor and it ends up in the daily prophet... THEN he has a writing career already set in place for when he leaves Hogwarts? Not too sure if this is any good of an idea or my imagination running a bit wild.
