PERSONALITY: Quinn is considered to be very quiet, yet edgy. While she longs to do something exciting with herself, she wants a life of peace after Hogwarts. She refuses to take any rude words from anybody or watch anyone be abused. Quinn often questions why she was sorted into Gryfinndor, but does not have to second-guess herself in verbal and magical battles. She also suffers from slight depression and poor self-image, and has a very few people she accepts in to her life. She wants to have a partner, but it is afraid of ruining it. Quinn also has a witty tongue and is, as stated previously, intelligent.

CHARACTER HISTORY
------------------------------------------------------------

Early Years: Described by her mother as a very wide-eyed baby. Although she enjoyed playing with her sisters, she was very edgy and quiet even before Hogwarts, She was scarred both physically and mentally at age 6, when her family and her older sister visited Diagon Alley. She was soon lost in the bustling crowds and found herself in a mix of dark alleyways inhabited by dark people. Out of nowhere, two viciously drunk men came bounding through. Not knowing better, she asked the men to help her find her parents. The two drunks then attacked her with their wands, releasing startling to dangerous spells that, at one point, sent a gash across her upper shoulder while the two laughed as if it was a joke. They then disappeared, and Quinn, scarred and rattled and barely conscious, was scooped up by a concerned passerby and taken to the hospital, where she was reunited with her parents. It was then her parents explained the concept of Death Eaters, and that Death Eaters were "mean people with nothing to lose". Ever since then, she has a scar that stretched from her left collarbone to her upper back. Quinn tried to keep a normal life after that, but had occasional nightmares leading up to the letter from Hogwarts.

Hogwarts Years: Quinn's beginning years at Hogwarts were a roller coaster. She spent most of the time with her head hung low and spent her time in her dorm with Eponine. Her dorm buddies were generally nice to her, and admired her for her singing as she got ready every morning and studied every night. Quinn is also praised by the DADA professor for her dueling skills. While this part of her life was good, she was also constantly bullied by Slytherins, probably the worst our of all the Gryfinndor children. She has however, been able to shut many of them up with her witty tongue.

Quinn felt her fingers tense around the handle of her wand. Her heart was throbbing into her throat and behind her eyes as she lifted it with a shaking hand and closed her eyes. She felt the salty tears roll gently on her skin and touch the corner of her lips as she heard the dreadful scream of the opponent.
Unfortunately, she realized too late that it wasn't the opponent's scream.
It was her own.

Welcome, Quinn!

I like the way you've framed your character up--in the respect that I think she works well as a Ravenclaw. She fits very well there, and I think, as she is, she would be a solid candidate for that house.

However, the issue I struggle with is that on the canon list, she's a Gryffindor. Right now, there is no logical reason the sorting hat would ever have made her a Gryffindor.

I'd like you to revisit it and find some reason, even if its an underlying reason that Quinn doesn't show very often, that makes her a candidate to be a Gryffindor. In order for her to be a Gryffindor, there are a few characteristics that she would need to have at least some elements of. Gryffindors are, first and foremost, loyal to those they love. Their loyalty supercedes all else. They'd toss themselves under a speeding bus if it would save someone they loved, and they wouldn't think twice about it.

They're fighters and they are interested in the greater good for all people. They are not supporters of the dark arts because that would imply, generally, greed and self centeredness, and that would be counter to a Gryffindor's nature.

Can you revisit her app, please, and see if you cant' find some way to make her fit the canon requirement for her?
