First of many

It was time for Nick's date with Rivah. Though he liked Rivah, he couldn't stop think about Sarah. He had kissed her and though his emotions were high, it was a bad decision. Really he wasn't sure what to do. He loved Rivah. But he also loved Sarah. Nick thought he may just date both girls just once and decide on who he enjoyed more and cared about more. Hopefully the other girl would understand. Actually he felt like Sarah would run away in tears and Rivah would hex him.

He showed up at the cafe twin montez where his date with Rivah was. He was waiting at a table wearing a blue suit with a white shirt and red tie. Better than his hoodie, t shirt and jeans like he was dressed when the two first met.

Rivah was right outside the Café Twin Montez. She and Nick had communicated some more after their last meeting, and decided upon here for their date. The blonde was still a bit conflicted about the whole situation. It was wonderful to have a male treat her like the Potter did, but deep down the witch knew they wouldn't last. They were far too different, and Nick was a bit too genuinely nice for her crowd.

It hadn't taken her long to decide upon her outfit, the woman had been waiting for a reason to wear the dress she'd bought not long before. Clothes and her appearance had always been something that came quite naturally to Rivah. The witch felt rather bad for those woman who had to exert effort into that kind of thing. Pulling open the door and spotting Nick in an instant, the female approached the Gryffindor, thinking that he really did look more handsome in smart clothing.

Nick began to stare at the woman in front of him. She was gorgeous, absolutely stunning in her outfit. "Ummm.... Hey, you look nice. How was work?" He asked softly. Nick was never good at starting a conversation between himself and another person. So he began to think like a Ravenclaw. She was the head of a magical creatures department. She must've liked magical animals. Magical animals. Normal animals. The new Hipporgrif law! "So did you hear about the new Hipporgrif law? It's supposed to outlaw the use of their feathers in wands." He said. Hopefully he didn't sound stupid.

"Thanks Nick," Rivah said with a gleaming smile, "you look pretty good too." Sliding into a seat across from the male, the witch only just held herself back from rolling her eyes. "Oh don't even get me started on that law," the woman said with a sigh, "it hasn't been passed yet, and I've gone on record saying that I don't support it, so all we can do at this point is hope. Hippogriff's loose feathers, that's how most wand-makers get them, but people have started killing them for their feathers, and that's where the idea for the law came from. Honestly, in my opinion, all they'd have to do was make the penalty for harming a Hyppogriff higher and people will leave them alone. There was no point in going this far."

Chewing on her lip for a moment, the witch looked back up to the Potter. "Sorry about going off like that, the Department has been a complete mess due to that law for days," Rivah admitted softly, suddenly feeling a little bit shy.

Nick smiled at her and gently patted her cheek. "I think it's cute when you babble like that. Unlike me. I tend to go off topic when I babble." He said softly. Taking in his environments he noticed a few distinguishing things. The assortment of decorations were old, like from the year two thousand and ten. Their was a picture of two people he went to school with a few years ago. The Montez twins. So they started this restaurant after all. "So what do you like to do for fun?" Nick asked quietly.

Rivah smiled softly at Nick. It was back already, that feeling that she got around him. The woman couldn't quite put a name to it. She'd felt love, infatuation, crushes, but whatever she felt with Nick, was something different entirely.

"Read, fly, I don't have too much free time anymore," Rivah admitted to the male. "What about you, what do you like to do when you have the time?" the witch asked, genuinely curious.

"Ooooh! I like flying! I actually was a Chaser and captain for the Gryffindor Quidditch team. I also will be a Chaser for the Falmouth Falcons after I graduate this year. I also like to brew potions and play the muggle sport of soccer, though I prefer Quidditch. " Nick said excitingly when he was talking about flying. "So I suppose I should explain some things to you. I have my own home. I adopted a daughter, her name is Quelyn and she's eleven. She is shy and won't like you at first because you'll be a new person to her. Her mother died and her father abused her a lot. Physically, and sexually. I also have a newborn daughter with a crazy girl. She wasn't crazy until she found out I was dating. But I love my child, she's a week old and I get weekend custody. Her name is Mollie. She was an..........." Nick's voice trailed off and tears began to form. "Accident" He finished.

Rivah was frozen for a moment in the face of all this new information. Bloody Merlin, Nick had baggage. Then again, so did she. And as crazy as all of Nick's issues sounded, they were all fairly normal things when it came down to it. Nothing like secretly being a Death Eater and avid dark magic user outside of her well-respected day job.

As she did with all information she encountered, the witch's brilliant mind quickly processed the new information. From the way things sounded, Nick had quite the heart of gold. "Both of your daughters are lucky to have you," the witch said finally, looking up into the male's eyes. He was just so honest it was outstanding.

"Well um.. thanks." He said looking down with a smile. Most people thought Nick was stupid and foolish about his decisions, it was nice to know someone didn't judge him. "So I don't really know much about you, other then your job. What sorts of.... baggage... do you have?" Nick asked. He decided that baggage was the right word. Gently he took her hand and interlocked their fingers. "Maybe you could come over tomorrow and meet them, my children?" He asked softly.

Nick asked about baggage and the witch's mind went into hyper-drive. Rivah liked Nick, she really did, but there was no way she was telling him that she was a Death Eater. No way in Hell. The only people alive who knew were either Death Eaters, or ex-Death Eaters. So the witch gave the tame and untruthful response of, "nothing really big, I guess. I spend a lot of time in the Department, my friends are always complaining that they never see me. I guess I do have a tendency to bury myself in my work."

"I, yes, sure," the blond stuttered out, still unused to just how fast this relationship was moving. Tongue darting out to lick at dry lips, the witch used her free hand to reach for her water glass.
