Vampires and Part Vampires

CreationVampires are created by draining the blood completely from an intended victim, then performing a powerful magical ritual in order to raise the body from its state of quasi-death.
Human women are capable of giving birth to a vampire's baby - this results in a half vampire.
Vampire women are incapable of giving birth. Samantha Burns is the only known exception to this, leading many to believe that it was due to her being turned while already pregnant. New studies are being launched to validate these theories.
Feeding HabitsWhen a vampire feeds, they use a special mix of chemicals in the saliva and magic to make the victim feel immense pleasure. This is used by vampires to secure continued donors for blood.
Vampires cannot drink the blood of animals - however, there are a variety of expensive, foul tasting, and not very nutritious synthetic blood potions available for the "pacifist vampire".
Most vampires enjoy the taste of blood, leading to magical sweet shops selling blood flavored candy.
Hogwarts provides its vampire students with a daily helping of donated blood from St. Mungos - however, it is just enough to survive. The school lacks the funds for much more.
LifestyleThe more recently a vampire has fed, the more powerful they are. A well fed vampire is noticeably - but not significantly - faster, stronger, and tougher than a very athletic human. At their thirstiest, a vampire is noticeably - but not significantly - weaker than a very unathletic human.
Sunlight hurts vampires. By using a special potion (which may be obtained from a qualified potioneer) they can spend a few hours in the sun each day. Any more than that and they begin to weaken before quickly dying.
Vampires are pale unless employing some kind of magical tanning. The whites of their eyes become yellow, but the irises stay the same color as when they were turned.
Vampires do sleep, but do not eat or go to the bathroom. They can be seen in mirrors, but are warded off by garlic. Religious symbols are iffy - their affect varies from individual to individual.
Vampires often feel a strong association with bats. Most vampires have a bat patronus or animagus.
Half vampires are almost entirely like normal humans. They are usually more sensitive to the sun and often are rather gifted athletically. Almost all have an intense allergy to garlic.
