Dear Readers,
Sorry for there not being a Daily Prophet lately. I’ve certainly been in and out of St. Mungo’s battling a sickness, nothing major. We all know what Christmas is like. I don’t think I’ve cooked so much in my whole life as I’ve done the past week. We all have our own crazy Christmas story to tell. This year was one of those years.
This week don’t forget to check out the new gossip column by Miranda the Gossip Queen. I’m not sure what you guys will think of the gossip column so owls are greatly appreciated. Please just don’t send any more pranked owls or death threats. Those are getting annoying.

Scotland’s Sheep and Demiguise Market Crashes
Recently, herds of sheep and demiguise have died suddenly in the Highlands of Scotland. Even the largest of farms have lost over half of their herd in some cases nearly all. So we can expect the price of sheep meat to go up and you may as well as forget about trying to buy Demiguise fur at the moment. This sudden and expected death of one of the major industries in the Highlands has caused the market in affected areas to crash. Residents fully expect the Highlands to have total economic crashes as soon as next week.
What is so special about all these death of the sheep and demiguise? Animal specialists in the Highlands can’t seem to explain it. There has been nothing like it ever reported. The bodies are being analyzed over and over and the specialists can’t even find any brain damage. Until specialists can figure it out whatever it is will continue to kill sheep and demiguise and there is nothing we can do.
In some cases farmers are reporting very strange things before and after sheep and demiguise die and even stranger things happening. In some cases farmers are reporting that their sheep and demiguise are just disappearing, no bodies but yet the food remains untouched, and these are farmers who have fences and herd dogs. A large amount of farmers are reporting their herd dogs barking at nothing. In some cases farmers are reporting dead herd dogs that don’t have a scratch on them; these dogs are trained to fight any predator to the death so they should have some sort of markings of an attack you would think. Recently, the weather has been rather strange in the Highlands. There has been extreme snowfall one day then two days later extremely flooding.
Some farmers believe this may be work of new muggle factories causing some magical animals to mutate into untraceable killers. Is it possible wastes from the muggle factories are poisoning the waterways and soil of the Highlands? And what department in the Ministry will be handling this situation?

The First Wild Dragon in Years Terrorized a Small Village in Wales
A wild baby Welsh Green dragon that has been found in Whales, what is special that this dragon is an actual wild Welsh Green dragon which hasn’t been seen for over a hundred years. Where did this dragon come from? Some think the parents may be a breeding pair of dragons that escaped a Dragon Sanctuary about twenty years ago.
When officials arrived in the small village in Wales everyone had their shutters closed not a single living creature was outside. In the middle of the street was a baby Welsh Green dragon no more than four months old. Apparently, the baby dragon was getting into the chicken coops and destroying chicken farms. Some parents say the dragon would chase small children trying to play with them but would only end up tripping the kids with its tail. Everyone says it really wasn’t hurting any of the residence but it was making chicken hard to find and was bugging them whenever they went outside. No one was afraid of the creature but no one wanted to watch if it had to be killed. Which the dragon was captured without a problem, walked straight into the cage. Officials are saying they will release it into the mountains away from any people since it is so rare to have a wild Welsh Green; they want to keep it a wild dragon.

The Terrible Triplets
Yesterday just as the sun was raising a muggle couple discovered a large basket at their doorstep. They looked inside and found triplets. They called muggle officials and took the babies inside while they waited; they were in rural Kent and didn’t want the babies to freeze to death.
By the time officials got there they couple was hiding in a closet while the terrible triplets had muggle objects flying around the room and were making some objects to some strange things. When wizarding officials got there were lamps dancing and books singing, this was clearly an display of powerful erratic accidental magic but still very impressive. Magical officials have taken the triplets to St. Mungo’s. The memories of all muggles involved were wiped and any evidence of the triplets destroyed.
So if you are looking for a rather large family please contact St. Mungo’s. They will be more the happy to be relieved from the terrible triplets that are currently in the Maternity Ward in St. Mungo’s causing even more trouble.
There are still many questions about the triplets though. Who are their parents? Why were they left at that muggle house? Where are they from?

Shockers When Top Ten Magical Academies Ranking Were Released
For the first time since the ranking list was created there is a two way tie and a new schools end up in the top ten that were a real shocker. Yesterday we got a copy of the Top Magical Academies and we talked to a few of our colleagues from other countries. Overall we got the feeling of shock from everyone.
Tenth place went to Brazil’s National Academy Magic. This is the first time they have made the list. Human rights activists are overjoyed with this achievement. This is the first school founded by human rights activists to make the top ten lists.
Ninth place went to New South Wales Academy of Magic in Sydney, Australia. This is only the second time the academy has made it on the list and is slowly heading up the list.
Eighth place went to Academy of Broom Flying. This is quite a shock since this school wasn’t even on the list last year. The headmaster is glad to see the academy is going to be known for more than producing Quidditch players and other sport players.
Seventh place went to American Wizarding Homeschooling System. This system is holding strong on the list for a decade. American politicians are hoping to improve the system even more over the next five years. They want to see more out of the system.
Sixth place went to Military Wizarding Academy. The idea of the wizarding military is still a new idea but yet the demand for a school came up five years ago and ever since we’ve seen this school does well in rankings. Word has it they are bringing in more teachers from all over the world hoping to make it to the top five next year.
Fifth place went to American National Magic Academy. For once in twenty years we have seen American Nation Magic Academy surpass Salem Witches' Institute, which did not make the list at all. Again our American counterparts are excited to see this improvement in the academy but are disappointed about Salem Witches' Institute.
Fourth place went to Wizarding Academy of Dramatic Arts, which has been making a rapid growth over the past two years. The headmaster is hoping to set up more finical support for American, Canadian and Australian students. This came out after a situation between an American student and a Russian student. Too much pressure on the students?
Third place went to Mahoutokoro, which is still holding strong with making the top five every year since this ranking list was created. The academy showed great pleasure in jumping to third from fifth last year. They told us they tried extremely hard with students over the past year to improve their rankings.
Second place went to Durmstrang Institute, which just announced the fact for the first time they have Headmistress a week ago. This school has always stacked up strong but everyone seems to think that we are going to see even more improvement with the appointment for their first Headmistress.
For the first time ever there is a tie for first place. The tie is between Hogwarts and Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. Everyone was surprised by this placement. What has been going on in Beauxbatons Academy of Magic that we don’t know about? Last year Beauxbatons Academy of Magic failed to make the top five and now they are tied first. Is the rivalry between Beauxbatons Academy of Magic and Hogwarts returning?

American Study Shows That Muggle Society Is Hurting Magical Children
A few months ago American Wizarding Government did a study on students from all over the world and last week they sent us the results. We were shocked to see the results. As a mother I found this study alarming as did the friends I shared this with to create a better article.
The actual reported the female students reported they didn’t feel pretty or skinny enough based on muggle media. The male students reported they didn’t feel smart, muscular or sporty enough based on muggle media. A lot of the female students reported eating disorders to the psychologist while their male counterparts reported it less.
The study did a sleep study and video study. They would show pictures of negative muggle media in slideshow then measured the brain activity of the students. The also measured how much sleep a student got without watching or listening to muggle media and with watching or listening to muggle media then compared it to a previous study about wizarding media. The end results that all the students have hormonal reactions to the muggle study and 95% had restless or no sleep afterwards; this greatly surpassed the results of the wizarding media study.
Overall this means muggle media is negative effecting wizarding kids. What can we do about it? Do you know what your kids watch on the tube or listen to? Are you really listening to your kids? Do you really know media?
I know back when I was a kid this wasn’t nearly as big as problem. Bullying will always be an issue but the suicide rate is up greatly. I personally know a person that did commit suicide outside of Hogwarts on break and I remember how hard it was to deal with it. I don’t understand why this trend of the past has returned. This concerns my friends and me greatly that have children over the age of 11. We all questioned ourselves over our own kids. We all think we know our kids but most of the time we barely know them. It takes a real parent to admit that.

The Worst Winter in a Decade
For the first time in centuries magical folk are resorting to warming spells, which have not been used for many years. For magical folk who do not these warming spells it is recommended you stay indoors when you can. The cold weather is also affecting magic. Please dress warm and don’t stay outside for too long.
St. Mungo’s is reported an increase in injuries resulting from exposure to the cold: frostbite, hypothermia, injuries from falling on ice and an increase in cold related maladies. St. Mungo’s using potions for treatment.
Staff at Hogwarts is saying that there are being extra effort being put into keeping the castle warm. Outdoor activities are being limited or altered because of the cold weather. Staff has been issuing extra blankets and warm clothing. There are now hot beverages being offered in Common Rooms.
The Ministry of Magic is recommending caution with porting and apparating in winter storms, dressing warmly in layers--especially during all magical travel....all the usual cold weather precautions. Nothing new just understands this winter is very harsh.
The Gossip
Reports of a possible trespasser on Longbottom residency; Neville and Hannah Longbottom refuse to answer any questions about this possible trespassing.
Rumour has it that Neville Longbottom has been trying to gather a group of people for some sort of meeting.
Some people think there was cover-up on Daily Prophet’s part about the vandalism in Knockturn Alley; Susan Bones says no such thing “there is not enough information about the subject to form an article. We need an official reported from the Ministry before we can post any crime”.
Hogwarts’ Rumour has it that a love affair was started in the Music Room. A few students are saying there is blood involved. What could two Hufflepuffs do that involves love and blood? This little situation in the Music Room was between Ryo Hiroku and Maura Goldstein. Some are saying it has something to do with a vampire bite.
