It has to be a dream. This isn't happening. He isn't gone. She isn't either. They're just home...they left early. yeah. Or...or they are out on some kind of internship.
Drew still didn't want to believe what had happened. It had been recent, and it had happened so quickly. He just didn't want to believe what was happening. Claire and Edgar weren't dead. They were just away. That was it. They couldn't be dead, they just couldn't.
No matter how much he told himself that it was all a dream, he knew it wasn't. Everyone else knew about what happened. Claire and Edgar had been murdered. By a Death Eater probably, they were always the ones who ripped families apart. "Why did it have to be us?! Why us?! Why not someone else!" he shouted into the Owlery, causing the owls in there to stir and a few to fly around in surprise to his shouting. He knew it wasn't something he should wish upon other families, but he couldn't help it.
He didn't want it to be this way. He wanted Edgar and Claire to appear again, to tell him that it was okay. That they weren't dead. Of course that wasn't possible. He threw his head back and screamed, this time all of the owls were disturbed and they flew around furiously not knowing what to do. His own owl, swooped down from the perch where it was and landed on his shoulder, as Drew stared out of the window to the horizon where the setting sun met the land.
A cold tear ran down his eyes and quickly dried on his cheek from the cold breeze that blew past him at that moment. He wiped his eyes quickly and turned his attention to his owl, who was looking at him awkwardly, with his head tiled half-way. "I'm sorry." he said softly, grinning goofily to try and keep his happy appearance up. Even though he knew animals could tell when someone was sad better than humans ever could.
