In the Cold Empty In the Cold

Post by Danny Thompson Mon Dec 03, 2012 11:13 pm

It was after careful consideration inside of Danny's old head that he realized, he must be making a mistake. Sitting outside in the dreadful cold while waiting for someone didn't exactly scream 'Oh, this is pretty friendly.' Much less for someone that was interested in the other. The cold didn't bother Danny, but rather what it stood for that cast deeper chills into his bones. Winter was here, well he wasn't sure if it was officially, but if you could die from the cold, then it was a clear sign that it was winter...or at least approaching. Why had been Danny been sitting out in the cold with the snow gently cascading on him? Waiting for the right person at the wrong time more than likely, yet even then that was only half of the truth. He was waiting for that right person (don't get any big ideas), Miseria, his new interest, yet the inner conflict that continued inside his head kept asking if it was the wrong time. Winter always bode harsh fruit for Danny, and he didn't like the idea of some jinx that has been following him ever since his school years continue to creep up on him to this day.

Whether it be fighting amongst supernatural friends, to fighting people after losing control at the Yule Ball, or just plain trying to hide his tracks after faking his death, winter always soured his mood...and it was clear to see in his expression. Which led back to his dilemma of 'should I wait 'til spring to talk to her once more' or 'this whole jinx idea is nonsense, ask her out already.' Truth was, the question was constant in his mind throughout the past several weeks, which made him feel horrible at the idea he hadn't even talked to Miseria in a while. From her point of view, it must've been confusing, if not slightly infuriating, that he would wait this long just to ask her out once more. He hoped she wouldn't be too sore about it, because he really couldn't offer a better explanation besides 'Well, I basically got the jitters as soon as I saw the first snowflake.' But despite his own personal grievances towards his personal curse, he decided now was the correct time.

Which leads him back to where he sits now, inside London next to some old pub, chilling his bones until they felt like they could snap with the slightest hug. Even with his winter time assemble of a heavy white jacket, black wool cap, soft woven mittens, black pants made to withstand severe cold, and some casual boots, he still felt like he could catch any chill that passed by. Even with the hood up on his face, his cheeks still felt like they were being stabbed by tiny daggers. Perhaps that was just nature's way of saying 'Feel my wrath!' because it sure felt like it. Hopefully, when he sent his message to Miseria, he didn't leave his location too vague...he didn't feel like catching a severe cold and having to go to St. Mungos. He'd probably laugh about it a few weeks ago, but ever since that whole sickness had come and gone, he didn't want to take any chances. As if writing his own last will and testament in his head, only one thought rang inside:

Miseria, get a god damn cell phone.

In the Cold Empty Re: In the Cold

Post by Miseria Lupin Fri Dec 07, 2012 5:12 pm

Winter, or at least first period of time, arrived. It was never too late to mention that Miseria adored this season. Winter was a world of fragile things and as soon as snow had fallen to the ground, she was one of the first one in her neighbourhood who ran outside to build the snowman, make snow angels and play some time with other kids who gathered outside. And not only were there small children but also older ones.
Winter was also the time when people started getting ready for christmas and they did their shoppings. Miseria, of course, was one of them. Shopping was essential for girls, but she did not spend much time buying presents, however. Before going she made a list of things what to buy and that saved some time.

The fact that Danny did not call her during those few weeks did not make her feel any worse. No, she did like him, she had to confess herself that, but she also had to be careful. Nor did she want to message him first. She did not want to distract him from any of his business and as much as she understood, he had to think everything trough.
Miseria, on the other hand, did not care of the possibilities of what their relationship should or could look like. They were different, yes, and Danny was way too normal. Yet it was really nice to know that she actually had a chance.

Once she recieved a message from Danny, Mis did not waste much time. She finished her tea and covered herself with warm clothes. Although she'd feel the chill on her skin, she did not want to risk with getting sick and later spending weeks in her bed, and if she'd be unlucky, then in St. Mungo's.
Finding Danny was simple.
And noticing her was also easy. As always Miseria wore her dark clothes, her blue hair waved when she walked, collecting all the snowflakes that fell upon her. „Why didn't you go in?“ she asked instead of greeting him. Mis smiled. Danny looked like he was freezing to the bone. His cheeks were red and he was shaking. Anyone could notice that. She took out his wand and waved with it towards him, warming him up. That spell would last for a while, but not longer than 30 minutes.

In the Cold Empty Re: In the Cold

Bones grinding as he lifted his head up to the familiar voice, Danny stared silently at Miseria for a second, allowing his thoughts to process equal to the speed of smell. The cold affected him more than he thought, he couldn't utter a single word for a moment's notice and it startled him to say the least. Rubbing his hands together in one last futile attempt, he breathed out a silent sigh and said "Didn't know if you could find me or not...didn't want to give you the wrong first impression." It was true he was nervous, but the cold couldn't kill his will right now. He was too frantic to get things going now. As he began to stand up, he suddenly feel his body begin to slowly crescendo back into it's normal condition, allowing a weak smile to form upon his lips. Always forgot to use magic whenever it would be useful, everyday it seemed like he was beginning to turn into a Muggle.

The sudden warmth seemingly inspired a new vigor into his body, his entire composure changing very discretely as he began to feel the fire within begin to burn brighter. "I uhh..." he started, his eyesight having trouble keeping a good connection to hers "I wasn't able to contact you sooner due to certain...issues." A slight pause formed between them as his thoughts continue to chug. "I didn't mean to offend if that would be the case. How about we step into someplace warm before the rest of my blood begins to freeze?" Taking a short look to the left and the right, he tried to find another place where they could stay for the moment, seeing as how the pub didn't seem like a good place to be. Wasn't like it was a bad place by any means, it looked rather well done, yet it wasn't exactly his idea of where to bring his date. To his own dismay however, he couldn't notice anything greater than just a post office or grocery store nearby (Danny making a quick mental note to never bring his date to London ever again), so he decided to just step inside the pub out of his own instincts.

Inside, the heaters blazed at his body, the warmth spell that Miseria casted boosting itself to the other magic of technology. The sensation caused Danny to shudder a bit, almost pure bliss forming inside of him as he stepped out of the cold. "Thanks again for using that by the way," he said discretely, noticing how several Muggles stood nearby "I feel like I just stepped into a sauna or something." With the ice in his brain beginning to melt, he began to examine how Miseria looked, the same old Miseria standing there looking at him. It felt nice that she was wearing her dark clothing once more, he really wasn't fond of the whole 'pink' look he had dared her to wear. So with the usual statement that always came from the nervous gent, he said "You look nice."

In the Cold Empty Re: In the Cold

OOC: sorry school

Miseria sighed quietly. "Oh Danny, I would've found you anyway." She did not like to brag, but Mis had this funny ability of finding people even if they were not in the plain sight. Guess that just went along with her werewolf gene. She smiled. First impression. They had their first kiss right after swimming in an ice cold water and he was worried about things like that? No matter how odd it sounded right now, Mis found it cute. Why didn't she think about anything like that?
She watched how his shaking stopped, making a note for herself that she should actually buy one of those fancy phones. iPhones, Galaxies or however they were called. Stupid names in her opinion.

Miseria shrugged. Going somewhere warm did not sound bad as long as Danny felt himself comfortable. She looked around, trying to figure out where Danny wanted to go first. They had a whole day for their own use after all.
When he chose the pub, Miseria followed him wordlessly. She was not a romantic person and she had no such sence nor did she miss romantic dinners with candles (although she had fun with them on their last date).

The warmth basically hit her face. She could feel how the snow, that was only a moment ago stuck in her hair, melted and how its cold water ran across her neck. She shivered, but also enjoyed that feeling.
While removing her scarf and unbuttoning her robe, she took the time to look around. Her guess was that the people around her were mostly muggles. Good, she could examine them and how they act.
"Thanks, you do too," she replied, looking at Danny now. "Should we sit down somewhere?"

In the Cold Empty Re: In the Cold

[It's all good.]

Danny smiled naturally from her simple comment, nodding his head slightly as some form of acknowledgement. Taking a short scan around the premises, he attempted to find a good place to sit, possibly one away from potential drunks and mindless idiots. Yet they were in a pub, it wasn't like they just stepped in a five-star restaurant. Making his decision, Danny jerked his head forward like a pointer and said "Over there looks good." A seat that appeared desolate enough to have their own privacy with an added bonus of a window next to it. Wasn't like he was paranoid or anything, he just liked the view.

Taking a couple of steps forward, trusting Mis to follow him, he guided himself and her to the table he chose, quickly suppressing the urge to hit one of the nearby patrons for being a loudmouth. It wouldn't be hard to knock him out and deal with the issue, yet Danny didn't want things taking a sour turn for the worse. As they reached their destination, Danny contemplated speaking for a moment before supressing that urge to do so. Mincing words was not his specialty, and for most of his relationships, that's what it required. Especially Alesy. He snapped himself out of his nostalgic mode and quickly focused on the current time.

Sitting himself down on one of the booths that were parallel from each other, he stole a quick glance at the outside world for a second as his thoughts continued to churn into oblivion. Looks like they would be there for a while if they didn't want to freeze any body parts off...well, maybe just Danny. Looking back towards Mis, he couldn't help but steal a few glances from her while she wasn't looking. He was a guy after all, sue him. As the quiet began to settle in and the outside voices began to drown out, he said "So are we considering the first date, or the second?" A simple question, but it caused him to raise his brow anyway "I don't really know if going out on a bet would be considered as one." Maybe not, but it sure led to this.
