Jayden walked up the stairs quickly, almost running, up to the owlery. Though he didn't have a letter to send today, he was going up there to visit his owl, Sora. He figured the barn owl was getting lonely without him, even if she did have so many other owls with her. Sora had never beenuch of an interacting sort of owl. She always preferred to stay away from other owls and she would only warm up to Jayden. If any other human got near her, she would try to peck them until they left her alone.
He thought that something must have happened to her before he got her. She was way to afraid of humans for it to be a normal thing. When Jayden first got her - found her rather - she looked like she had been seriously injured by something, or someone. The wounds didn't seem like they were made on accident, they looked like they were made purposely by a human. Though he'd taken care of the bird until she was okay, it took a while for Sora to warm up to him. While he tried to help her, she would always try to peck him or she would just flail around until she tired herself out. He was never able to figure out what happened to her though, because she refuses to tell him about what happened.
A meow came from beside him and Jayden jumped. He stumbled on one of the steps and almost fell backwards. He caught himself in time though, but he still fell, just forwards. "Oh sorry. I frightened you didn't I?" his kitten, Athena, asked. "Yes, but don't worry about it Thea." he told the cat as he got up and dusted himself off quickly. "You were thinking about what happenrd to Sora, right? And why she won't tell you?" Athena asked. Jayden nodded. "I just don't get it Thea. She doesn't want to tell me anything about it. She won't even give me a clue as to what happened." he sighed. "Just give her time Jayden. She is having a hard time getting over whatever it is that happened to her." Athena told him. Jayden nodded and sighed.
He climbed the last step to the Owlery and opened the door. His ears were immedately filled with the screeches and flapping of the wings of all the owls in there. His eyes darted around the room, looking for Sora. Jayden frowned at first when he couldn't find her, but then a sudden movement from the corner called his attention and he noticed that it was Sora. He smiled and walked up to the owl. Jayden stretched his arm out and called for Sora to come down. The female owl flew down and perched herself on his arm. Athena jumped on his shoulder and greeted Sora. The owl greeted her back and then her bright yellow eyes turned to Jayden. "How've you been doing Sora?" Jayden asked. "I've been doing fine, Jayden. But I have been feelung lonely." she told him. "Sorry I couldn't come sooner to see you Sor. But I was a bit busy." he petted the owl gently. Sora rubbed her head on his hand. "It's okay, I understand." she answered him.
