GENERAL APPEARANCE: Kirby has a boxy, strong face. His jaw is square and defined, and there are lines around his mouth. He is mysteriously handsome when he has a straight face, but his face is oddly made ugly by his smile, oddly enough. He has deep-set eyes of a startling, piercing grey. They are sharp as a hawk and seem to stare down his straight nose at the world in an impeccable fashion. His brown hair is kept neat and his face is always clean shaven.

Kirby dresses well, not to impress but because he feels clean when he looks clean. He purchases most clothes secondhand and is not fond of robes nor hats. He enjoys scarfs, loafers, and blazers. He is tall and trim, with long limbs that are almost spider-ish. He has long fingers and deft hands well suited for creating and touching.

PERSONALITY: Kirby is not a typical Slytherin, nor a typical son-of-a-pureblood. He acts more muggle than magic, and often goes about muggle devices for his life. He believes in doing the unorthodox option- the moment he feels a shred of normalcy and routine in his life, he has to break out and do something drastic. He is restless and thrives on change in his life.

Someone like that seems like one that would not enjoy the company of others. However, despite his need for change, an oddity in his behavior is his love of companionship. He likes people and he likes to observe them and he finds a certain pleasure in connecting to them, though this pleasure is expressed inwardly. His friends are his friends for his intellect. He would not take a bullet for them. He does not mind asking them for money or for favors- he gives them his thoughts in exchange.

Kirby’s driving motivations seem to be exploration and knowledge, which he believes go hand and hand with each other. Exploration comes in all forms- exploring places, ideas, people. He does not think life is about working, but about learning and that is the way he lives.

CHARACTER HISTORY
------------------------------------------------------------

Early Years: Gerald believes ever so much in blood superiority. Therefore, when he left Hogwarts and traveled the world, he never expected to having a one-night stand with a muggle. He stayed around, thinking she was a witch but finding himself too embarrassed to ask. Just as he planned to get out, he was informed he had an obligation to his unborn child- Judith was pregnant. In a fit, he demanded to know if she was a witch. Naturally, she freaked out. The Ministry became involved and they struck a deal- they would not erase her memory so long as she kept it quiet. Gerald would fund her band account. She would keep the child.

Kirby was born and lived a normal life. His mother never remarried but was a perfect darling of a mother. However, at seven years old, she died in an accident on the underground- a gas lead gone wrong. Kirby’s father arrived and explained who he was- Kirby opted to live with his mother’s sister. He cut off from his father for as long as he could. The boy who had loved his mother so dearly fell into silence. He built himself a tree house in their home and raided the library. He stole books from his grammar school and got caught- so began his life as a delinquent.

He received his letter and Gerald was asked to take care of the situation. He took his son to Diagon Alley alone, buying him everything he might need for the year. Gerald spoke of his life- his new wife, his children, his belief that purebloods were superior: “Though I cannot blame you. As my kin, I have a certain loyalty and I can look over your mother’s deficiencies to appreciate you.” Kirby decided he did not want anything from his father. He burned most of the things his father bought him that was not necessary for school.

Hogwarts Years: Kirby fell in love with Hogwarts when he walked in. He was sorted into Slytherin and did his research- Slytherins were resourceful, proud, and cunning. There was a mystery to the house, and Kirby felt a surge of pride to think he was considered as such. His first year was magic. He was the apple of his professor’s eyes, even if he did get in trouble occasionally for petty theft.

His second year flung him into a personal hell. His step siblings began Hogwarts and were both sorted into Slytherin. “That’s all in the family, half-y. Us, you, and Father.” Kirby’s blood ran cold to have something in common with his father beyond some DNA. His step siblings were horrid- they teased him for his blood status and his ‘broken home.’ He got suspended towards the end of second year for accidentally hexing his brother Jon- it was accidentally magic, but the harm was bad enough to put him in the hospital wing for two weeks. He was able to stay at home with his aunt during this time. Third year was not an improvement. His grades slipped, he joined the Quidditch team but was kicked off for bad behavior, he was caught stealing several times, and got in a fight with a boy in his dorm.

He got halfway through fourth year before it became too much. His aunt fell in a supermarket and broke her hip. She lost her job and their home went into foreclosure. On disability, she was taken in by her brother-in-law and sister and told Kirby he needed to live with his father until arrangements could be made. Kirby begged his Potions professor, one of his favorites, to let him stay in the gamekeeper’s home over the summer. He was denied. His siblings, now full-fledged sadists, tortured him. Kirby lost his grip. He set fire to his dorm. He was suspended again.

He never came back.

Adulthood: Kirby returned to his mother’s hometown at fourteen and got a job. He lived in a broken-down building. This lasted for six months before he realized he was not going to survive. The school year was soon to end and his aunt would be worried. He went to Diagon (a three day journey) and emptied out his Gringott’s account. He lived in Diagon Alley there for a year- scrounging and jumping from Leaky Cauldron to people who would rent to him. He sent his aunt a letter saying he had decided to stay with his father.

He was found out when he was fifteen. Tried before the Ministry, he was emancipated and allowed a wand so long as he took adult-education courses. He took half of these- his ‘professor’ liked him and allowed him to quit early without reporting him. He bought himself a muggle car, his Gullywing, and decided to leave the country.

Kirby traveled the world from the age of sixteen to twenty three. He went to Russia first where he met Emmaline, a fifteen year old runaway. The two became partners in crime and a couple. They went from place to place, creating a network of friends to rely on, all outsiders. Greece, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Czechoslovakia, France, and finally America. His relationship with Emmaline ended and began, depending on their own feelings. He would often meet women and begin relationships with them and Emmaline found her own men. They always found themselves back together, however, and they would move on.

In America, Kirby received a letter from his aunt to hear she was sickly again. He decided it was time to return from his world tour and visit. On his return, he found his aunt terribly sick and knew he could not leave. Emmaline and Kirby found themselves an apartment and Kirby began to look for work.

FAAARG- That ruins his whole character history. I thought that the drop out rule only applied to characters who were current drop outs, not if it was part of their history??

Well, thing is I can't really say he's a graduate, if he never graduated.

Which means he goes to other.

I hate other.

And I know how mean this must seem, because we've bent rules before, but I'm trying to enforce it, because generally it was done for characters who dropped out before we got our act together and ruled on it.

If you want another admin's opinion, and they say yes, I'll go with it (Wont need two on one or anything) but it's just where I stand on the matter.

Or if you wanna argue really hard, I might take it as well Smile

Well, in the history the Ministry offered him supplanted education, and I thought that it could be like dropping out of high school but going to night school and earning your GED. So, he would have graduated, but it would be on his record that it was not in school, and therefore, a lesser form of education.
