GENERAL APPEARANCE: At five feet six inches tall, Jazmin is of normal height for her age. She loves junk food so her weight tends to fluctuate, but she keeps herself active to avoid blowing up. Her skin is pale as hell no matter how many vitamins her mother shoves down her throat and she doesn’t even bother with the dark baggy circles under her eyes anymore. Jazmin isn’t body builder muscular or a tiny skinny wimp, she’s just average.
When she isn’t in uniform, Jazmin keeps it casual. She isn’t a slob, but she isn’t a neat freak either. If it smells clean, it’s good enough to wear. She’s a jeans and tshirt kind of girl. She’ll wear a dress on a special occasion because her mother will fall into an epileptic fit if she doesn’t, but deeply despises the idea of being “girly” and wearing dresses in order to fulfill some patriarchal idea of what a woman should look like.

PERSONALITY: Pushy, opinionated, ill tempered, passionate, sympathetic. Jazmin is considered a Feminist by most. Jazmin, however,is not keen on labeling herself or her beliefs. She does not want to be told, “This is who you are and what you should fight for.” She is not a raging man hating dyke, despite what most people think. In fact, she has nothing against men. And the dyke thin, well..she hasn’t quite figured that out yet.While society is dominated by a hierarchy that allows women to be dominated by men in just about every way possible, men are just part of the problem. Women themselves should share half the blame for the status quo because they allow themselves to be raped and pillaged, metaphorically speaking. In order to bring about change in a society rampant with social, economic, political, and sexual inequality (among other things), women everywhere must first realize their true place in the world..and it ain’t in the kitchen or the corner grocery store picking up diapers.
Jazmin has a lot of ideas and whether people want to hear them or not, she likes to share those ideas. No one is gonna listen to a meek little mouse, so she has no choice to be pushy and loud, and sometimes even rude to get her point across. She isn’t all about women’s rights, but equal rights in general, for everyone. Jazmin tends to stand up for the little guy whenever the opportunity presents itself and she isn’t afraid of getting into someone’s face if need be, student or professor. She is friendly with her classmates and chit chats occasionally with girls in class, but there isn’t anyone in particular she can consider a close friend.

CHARACTER HISTORY

Early Years: Martha was always a party girl. She knew where all the good parties were taking place and who was bringing the good booze. The night before her 17th birthday, she headed out with a bunch of friends and had a damn good time at a local club. She even met a good looking older bloke by the name of Ash. Word on the street was pretty boy Ashton played for the other team and being the kind soul that she was, Martha made it her mission to guide the poor misguided chap to the right side of the field. Lucky for her Ashton was a confused subservient little wimp and could not refuse a girl who lay on the bathroom floor with her legs spread wide open. Nine months later Jazmin was born. Two weeks after that Ashton was on a flight heading out to the states with Eduardo, his new boyfriend from University. He did manage to leave Martha a note with some nonsense about Jazmin and how she might exhibit unusual behavior and in eleven years time could receive a strange letter from a “special school.” It meant nothing to Martha and she discarded the letter, not giving it a second thought. She spent the next eleven years working odd jobs to support herself and Jazmin. It was a struggle, but they managed. The summer of Jazmin’s 11th birthday, they did receive a letter from a school and to the surprise of both, Ashton decided to pay a visit as well. He spent the next several hours explaining the fact that he was a squib born to two magical parents and had ties with both the magical and muggle world. It took ages for everything to sink it, and for Martha it may never will. Jazmin embraced her new life and was eager to practice magic. Her father on the other hand, she had no time for. She refused to waste a moment on a man who abandoned a teenage girl with a newborn baby.
Hogwarts Years: Jazmin has done considerably well at Hogwarts, despite growing up in a Muggle home. It took quite some getting used to, but after the first year, she managed to get the hang of things. Although dedicated to her studies, Jazmin is not a straight A student, Jazmin gets along with her classmates just fine, but no one exactly goes out of their way to befriend her and she is mostly preoccupied with her cause to really care. That is not to say, however, that she doesn't feel lonely once in a while.

RP SAMPLE: t was actually a relief to finally be caught up on all the work she had missed during her time away. A week prior, Jazmin addressed a letter to the Ministry expressing outrage at their refusal to incorporate an additional class to the current curriculum titled, Herstory of Magic. It wasn't like she was going out of her way to stir controversy or undermine the administration. She simply wanted a class where she and her fellow students could learn about some of the women, past and present, who have made contributions to the wizarding world. There was more to life than the Wizards Council and the Great Goblin Wars, and all the other boring crap she was forced to read about year after year. Her request was of course, denied, so instead of attending classes, Jazmin staged a 'sit out' and refused to do anything but meditate until her demands were met. She was doing rather well until her mother wrote demanding she stop being ridiculous and get her arse back to class, otherwise she'd be sent back home to work in a dress factory. It wasn't really the idea of working in a factory that scared her because they both knew she'd burn the place down, thus freeing the women from their oppressors. It was more so the fact that her mother never made empty threats and she would pull Jazmin out of school just to prove a point. After a week, she decided to stand down and get back to the mundane routine of student life, except she was really behind in her work and desperately needed help getting back on track. Some weren't so bad and she could easily bullshit the answers, but others such as Transfiguration and Charms where she actually had to apply magic, required a study session or two from a fellow 5th year.
