What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

After another long day of working with magical creatures in the Ministry, Jake was tired. Definately tired. He hadn't imagined that working with these creatures would be so hard, he thought it would be easy. A mistake he found out was wrong the hard way. His clothes had been burned to a crisp by a rather tense female dragon. He had to change clothes three times in one day. Three times! If that kept up he would run out of clothes to wear soon. At least he found out what was wrong with the dragon, she was pregnant. Figures she would get tense and protective when someone got near her.

He had worked so hard to gain her trust and that seemed to go down the drain when she burned him, he still had some minor burns on his skin that he had refused medical treatment for. It wasn't her fault, she was just trying to protect her unborn baby, he didn't blame her for what she did. They would be able to try the experiment again the next day. But right now he needed to rest, even if it was for a few moments. He had his briefcase next to him on the floor, packed with papers that he either needed to fill out, or ones that had formulas for the experiment that he still needed to test.

He rested his head on his hand that was held up by the table he sat at. Jake called over the waiter and ordered his usual, he had become quite the regular costumer now that he worked at the Ministry. Almost everyday unless he was really tired he would stop by for a drink, a meal, or just to make small talk with some of the staff. He had even been offered a job there becuase of all the time he spent at the place, but of course he refused, saying he already had a job, but no specifying what it was.

A long day... a really, really long day. It was always a long day, but today had been bad. She had been forced to run and get coffee for nearly everyone in the department, and then she had gone around to every desk almost ten times that day, giving folders and picking them up. It seemed everyone had decided to work hard that day, so Selene was exhausted. She had stayed an extra shift to get some extra money, and it was getting late now, as she dragged herself into the Leaky Cauldron. It was her home now, and sometimes at night, she would work here too, which in fact she was working here tonight, just as a waitress. She needed all of the money she could get, even if it meant getting only a few hours of sleep. She worked a full time job, and a part time job, and still she had to pay for staying the night there, though technically she got an employee discount, simply because she did work there sometimes.

After a quick shower to wake herself back up, she pulled on an apron from behind the counter and started to sweep up the floors, paying special attention behind the counter as things were liable to fall there and they didn't want any bugs. It was a busy night, and Selene was working late, she was getting to know quite a few of the regulars, some of them she even recognized from her department at the Ministry. Some recognized her, and greeted her pleasantly enough, but it was nearly 11 o'clock when she took a break and pulled her bandanna from off her head, letting her blonde hair free as it fell around her shoulders and she went and sat down, still dressed in her uniform for work, and absolutely exhausted. Glancing around, she saw some people she recognized, but none she knew by name. Letting her head fall down onto the table, she sighed, and waited for the pain in her feet to subside.

Having nothing else to do, and not wanting to go home yet, Jake had taken out some papers from his briefcase, adn now they were laid out in front of him on the table. He was looking over the papers with the formulas, when he noticed someone familiar. He couldn't quite place his finger on it, but he knew her from somewhere. He stared at her for a moment, before looking back down at the papers again.

Even looking down at the papers, Jake continued to think about where he knew this girl from. Finally it dawned upon him. She was in Tri-Wizard competition. He didn't quite remember if she had won or not, but it didn't matter to him, at least he knew who she was. But her name still escaped his mind, but who's wouldn't with how stressed he was? It's lucky that he even remembers his own name right now. He looked up from the the papers again, and saw that the girl had sat down, and now getting a good look at her, he remembered that she also worked at the Ministry, but that she didn't work with beasts like he did.

He put the papers down and rubbed his eyes. He really was very tired. Maybe he should get home and rest. But he didn't want to, instead he found himself just looking at the girl. He was trying to remember her name, umong other things that had nothing to do with her.

Selene felt eyes on her, and she felt tingles go up her spine. She couldn't help but lift up her head and turn around, looking around the bar. She caught the eye of a man who was staring at her, and she felt her face flush. Immediately she thought he was trying to get the attention of a waitress, and still being in her apron, she stood up and went over to him. "Can I help you sir?" She asked softly, pulling an ordering paper from her pocket and a quill, which was kept eternally sharp and loaded with ink, it was a bit fancy for a waitress, it was the one thing in her life that she prized, and had spent to much money on. It was a peacock feather quill, but smaller then the large ones, so that it looked as though it was only the tip of the feather that was used as a quill, the large eye beautiful in it's plumage.

"Have you been served sir? I'm sorry if you were kept waiting, I'm on my break just now." she said giving him her waitress smile, the kind that was polite to all, and confident, trying to appear like the perfect hostess. If she worked hard at it, she might get a tip at the end of the night, and every cent of that went towards a home for her to someday live in. A home for herself, and a place for her to stay in besides the Leaky Cauldron. An apartment, a townhouse, anything but not having a home after being basically kicked out of her own with only enough to get her by to stay in the Leaky Cauldron until her first paycheck, after that she payed for her own way. And now, this man had been staring at her, it did unnerve her a bit, she recognized him, and that didn't help the uneasy feeling about being watched she was getting. But her smile stayed in place, and she waited for his answer.
