Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Aconite; I grow aconite. Empty Aconite; I grow aconite.

With what little light the greenhouses allowed to water through, Audrey’s fingers worked meticulously, tending to one plant and then moving onto the next. Her dark eyes were completely focused on the multiple tasks at hand. Not once did they stray around the room where the other students were working.

Completely absorbed, Audrey ploughed on through the job at hand, her eyes occasionally retuning the book that was laid open on her work bench.

She’d gotten straight down to work that morning. She’d come in early and the Professor had been more than willing to set her off on her task straight away. So when the rabble poured into the greenhouses from morning break, still chatting away, Audrey was almost completely finished with the lesson plan.

She was foolish to think that her completion would allow her to be idle for the rest of the lesson. No, Professor Frankenberg sent her to the storeroom and told her to sort out the contents.

Knowing that it was safer in there than in the classroom, Audrey removed her gloves and dropped them down on the desk she’d been working at. She didn’t take off her apron though, for fear of spilling something down her front, and slowly made her away across the tiled classroom floor towards the door the professor had waved dismissively towards.

Audrey bit her lip and brought her hand to the door handle and wrenched the storeroom door open. Dust emerged, peppering her in its sneeze-inducing particles. Audrey smiled gently and passed through the door, leaving it open behind her.

She lifted her wand and pointed it at the little oil burners hanging from iron hooks screwed into the walls. Upon muttering a spell, all of the little burners ignited and bathed the room in a warm, orange glow.

Audrey lifted her hand to the first little box of what looked like seeds on one of the shelves and plucked it off. She brushed the dust away and squinted at the label before lifting her gaze again.

"Aconite." She murmured before placing it back on the shelf. Where on earth was she supposed to start? There must have been twenty years worth of dust in there and the labels were probably thirty years older than that. Audrey knew that she'd be there a while. She didn't mind the idea so much, either. If she was lucky then perhaps she'd even miss lunch.

Rise had come into class at the normal time, and set to work with the lesson plan. And to be honest, it was easier then most of the stuff she did everyday with the Longbottom's. It was downright easy. She was finished with the project in less then half an hour, and suddenly she had time to spare. Pulling off her gloves, she asked the professor what to do, and he sent her to the storeroom to organize the plants and things in there. He failed to mention that someone else was in there, and when she walked into the room, she jumped three feet in the air when she nearly ran into the girl in there.

"Oh! I'm sorry! I didn't know someone else was in here!" She exclaimed, falling back towards the door again. "Professor Frankenberg told me to sort out the stuff in here.." She said flushing bright red. "He.. He didn't say anything about someone else helping.. sorry." She ducked her head in apology and looked back up at the girl, before looking around the storeroom. "Wow.. so many different things." She whispered in awe, going over to a bottle that had a sprig of a very rare plant. "Oh wow.." She whispered turning to look at the girl. "I'm sorry, I'm Rise... Rise Lehmberg.. I erm... I'm a Hufflepuff, 6th year.." She said softly, extending her arm to shake the girl's hand.

There was everything lining the shelves; everything a Herbologist could ever want or need. Lifting her wand higher, prompting the light to fill places otherwise unseen. Audrey turned at the sound of a voice and pointed her wand out in front of her, the tip turning from a bright red light to a scarlet colour, as if preparing for the stunning spell that was on the tip of her tongue. Audrey’s eyes widened slightly and she took a step back, her teeth coming down around her bottom lip. Audrey watched as the girl bustled in with no verbal filter attached to her brain. For a moment or two, Audrey’s eyes narrowed before the girl foolishly gave her something to go on, something to pick at.

“Wouldn’t he have said that to me?” Audrey retorted calmly and evenly. “As I was actually here first.” Audrey pressed her lips together and rolled her eyes at the girl before turning them back to the shelves. “Do you always say, ‘wow’?” Audrey asked, her tone of voice changing to match Rise’s when she said the overused word. Audrey shook her head and brought her eyes back to the girl. She cocked her head to the side and frowned before extending her own introduction to the girl. “Macnair. Audrey Macnair.” She murmured slowly.

Rise felt herself backing away from the girl mentally. There wasn't enough space to do it physically, but she had been caught so unprepared, she knew she had said more then she normally would have. Specially to a stranger she had accidentally run into here. The first thing out of the girl's lips were verbal insults, and Rise knew her heart was beating fast in her chest. What could possibly be wrong with a person to make them that mean towards others? What went through their head that the first thing that came out was insults, and abuse. Rise was getting used to it though, and that scared her to a degree. It wasn't fair that she had to get used to it, but as it was... this girl was giving her every reason to hate Slytherins.

Rise stared around the room silently, before she went to a shelf and pulled off a bottle that was labeled with an A, in the M section. "I guess we should get started then." She said simply, turning a now cold eye towards the girl. If the girl was going to be nothing but rude, why extend happiness and cheer to someone who wouldn't respond to it. She wished she could be nice, she wanted to be nice, but the girl would probably hate her for it anyway. "Wish there was a spell to do this kind of thing.. I'd rather leave class early, or do the next project early instead of sitting in a musty room.." She said and mentally added "With a Slytherin girl who is a total B**** on first greeting." Rise mentally slapped herself, and looked down. Who knew.. maybe it was just her surprise leaking through, Rise shouldn't judge her so quickly anyway, don't judge a book by it's cover they always said. So turning a kinder eye towards the girl, she smiled at her. "I'll start over here, and get everything off the shelves that starts with an A.. okay? And then we can relabel them one letter at a time.. does.. does that sound okay?"

There was little room to breathe in the cupboard; it seemed rather foolish for the professor to expect two people to shift stock and re-label bottles and boxes filled with various dried plants. Audrey hadn’t meant to offend the girl though she could see by the twinge of shock on the girl’s face that she had. Though that hadn’t quite been her intention, Audrey wasn’t discontent with the look she’d invoked in the girl. Hufflepuffs were sensitive, overly so. Audrey didn’t want to concern herself with the girl’s wellbeing or personal happiness. It wasn’t up to her to make sure the girl was content. If she wanted to be offended, she was welcome to be. From Audrey’s point of view though, honesty was the best policy. Nothing that had ever happened to the chipper little Hufflepuff could have been particularly devastating. She probably had a lovely little life, wrapped up and mollycoddled by parents that were desperate for an over-achieving spawn. How quaint.

Audrey brought her wand down slightly but kept her eyes fixed firmly on the shelves. “Yes,” She murmured slowly in response as she moved her eyes across the shelves. “There is a spell I suppose. Not a specific one but one that can be used to quicken the process.” Audrey added thoughtfully before continuing. “If we were to re-label the new jars and bottles - they’re in that box down there,” Audrey pointed her wand to it and a spell nudged it into the middle of the floor. “Then Accio could be used one the bottles with the corresponding ingredients and all we’d have to do is change the ingredients from one bottle to another. That sounds easy enough doesn’t it?”
