Internship Again

Frank was sorry he had not been able to bring the first batch of interns to the headmaster personally, but he had been very busy and Cecily had been more than willing to help him out. Though, when she returned, she had made it clear that she would prefer if he made the deliveries from now on.

She and her little gaggle had been there when he left. He asked them to please watch his office in the meantime and he had set out, hoping not to be long. He had files tucked under one arm and the rolled up parchment that had the next batch. He recited the password and went up into the office, knocking and slipping inside.

"Headmaster?" He called. "It's Frank Longbottom. I have the list of the new interns and mentors." He unrolled the parchment and his eyes swept over the words:

Andrew Thompson and Angus Donahue
Louis Weasley and Brian Quinn
Jamie Prophet and Anrian Potter
Mira Anderson and Robert Lupin
Athena Goyle and Mercutio Cambiare
Renny Handler and Caelani Bittel
Yumi Zante and Katharine Lupin

He nodded and set it down on the headmaster's desk.

''Ghastly boy, where's that little critter that brought them last time?'', Doyle said as he saw Longbottom himself enter. ''Another batch? How many do you have, for Peter's sake?'', he asked taking the papers. ''Why are there so many Lupins here? And, since that little thing did not know, can you tell me... well, anything about these people... the students included'', he said, observing the list of names.

"It seems you sort of terrified her," Frank replied. "Cecily said you had a lot of questions she did not have the answers to, so I made sure I would be available to answer any of your questions." Frank shrugged at her question and said, "Quite a few. A lot of kids signed up. I'll probably have another batch within the next week or so."

Doyle reviewed the papers and asked about the Lupins. Frank said, "There are a lot of them and they all take an active involvement in their community, I suppose." He nodded and read the paper. "Well, as far as I know, Andrew and Angus are quite alike, and Brian and Louis are both on the light side. Jamie seems to be going through a tough time and Andrian, rumor tells, might have some good advice. Mira could also receive a lot of guidance from Robert. Athena and Mercutio are both a bit eccentric. Renny's very nice and Caelani is brilliant, like her, just a little tough. It'd be a nice challenge for them both. Yumi is sort of shy but Katharine has a lot to teach her."

This was why Frank got this job. He took the time to care.

''You're a true ministry rat'', Doyle replied. ''I mean, the information I just received is completely irrelevant. Is there anything interesting I should know?'', he asked. He then remembered the little girl. ''I terrified her? Ghastly situation. She was... funny, though. Do tell her that it wasn't my intention to do so'', he said, reviewing all the papers once more. He then took his pen from his coat and put his signature on the bottom. He kept the paper for himself, though,

Frank opened his mouth but could not. He hated dishonesty, and the man was just voicing his opinion, more or less. Instead he said, "You did not tell me what sort of information you wanted. And forgive me, sir, but none of that came for the Ministry. Let me tell you, they do not put that much interest into your students, unfortunately enough. This is my knowledge on the students before having ever met them. I'd be happy to answer your questions, perhaps if they were better articulated I could clarify."

Frank nodded when the headmaster asked if Cecily had been terrified. Frank did not lie, but he was learning to omit information for the sake of politeness. He did not tell Doyle that the girl had been irritated more than she had been scared. "I will let her know." He paused. "So, you approve my decision?"

''I know they don't. They are all idiots. Just tell me about the mentors... I don't care about the pupils'', he said looking at the names once more. He then observed the boy, well, he was rather young, and his figure. ''Do tell her that... she was fun to interact with'', he said.

He then gave him the papers. ''I approve, of course I do. Why should I care that much what you decide? I trust you're not such a big idiot. But, I still want more information on the mentors next time, as I trust I shall be seeing either you or the little girl very soon'', Doyle said.
