Claudia had been just knocking off, just looking forward to lazing at home in her pyjamas, eating shepard's pie for dinner and maybe reading a romance when Caelani's message had come.
On one hand, she knew it was important, because she was an auror (even if she was only training) and Caelani was a Death Eater. She'd overheard from one of the higher ups that her former housemate had even climbed all the way up to the top spot, which might have been impressive for anyone else, but wasn't really that impressive when it was Calli. She'd always been a righteous little b!tch. The only one who'd ever matched her for ambition was Sabina, and look how that turned out.
Still, being summoned at this time of evening really ticked Claudia off. The world had better be ending, or Calli was going home with broken legs. Claudia could do that now and she doubted anyone would care if she practised on Bittel.
There was a place in Knockturn Alley. It was old and run down, rather like most of Knockturn Alley, except Satins, which was simply garish. It was somewhere that Caelani, being a "dark witch" wouldn't be suspected and where Claudia, being an auror wouldn't either. She conjured her patronus and then followed the silver hare up the stairs.
When she reached the room, Caelani was still standing with her wand pointing at the door. It was the intelligent thing to do; even if it was Claudia's patronus, that was no guarantee she was the one coming through the door. But she seemed more nervous than normal. Or did she? Claudia hadn't seen her for a long time. Perhaps living around Death Eaters made you more paranoid than a regular person.
"So?" she prompted Caelani to explain why Claudia was here.
