The lunch hall held nothing in it that Elijah wanted. He couldn’t smoke in there. He couldn’t drink what was left of his wine stocks from the Room of Requirement in there. He was lost and confused. That was all inside his head, though. He knew exactly where he was but within himself he had no clue. He didn’t know how he was supposed to react to the news of his mother’s death. It was only so long before Chase would catch on. There was only so much time before she caught on as to what was going on. Elijah had already had enough concerned Fire calls from his cousins and his father. They were all aware that Elijah wasn’t particularly fond of his mother but death never sat well with him. He never knew what to do with the emotions. He couldn’t sort through everything in his mind. He just...fell apart. His mother’s death had been both unexpected and below the belt; a swift kick to the testicles. He mightn’t have gotten along with her but a part of him still loved her. She was his mother and he was her son. He loved her. Now she was gone and she’d never know.
Stepping into the hall, Elijah’s ebony eyes swept across the hall. They landed on Cecilia and he watched as she pushed her food around her plate, pretending to eat. Anger ensnared Elijah and he stormed over to his sister. The Ravenclaws sat across from her scuttled out of his way and he stood in front of his sister, his shadow looming over her. He gripped the table and clenched his jaw, halting the slew of verbal abuse that his mind was threatening to unleash upon her. Finally, he spoke calmly yet the anger was still there, lacing his words and it was quite obvious too. “Maybe you should have been in Hufflepuff,” he hissed. “Because you’re a disappointment to Ravenclaw house. You, sister, are an idiot. Don’t say anything to me,” he stopped her from cutting in. “I don’t want to hear it because it’s probably a load of bullshit anyway. Just sit down, shut up and eat your goddamn food because I am sick of you looking like a fuc- corpse,” he prevented himself from swearing anymore. The younger years looked as if he’d just drowned their puppies. He probably had. Welcome to reality, kids.
