James Wake was putting his day to good use. Having completely annotated his copy of the DADA textbook, he had turned to his Transfiguration textbook. He was not as adept with Transfiguration as he was with more offensive spells, he still knew enough to call out the mistakes and misteps the book pointed out. As he took out his pencil, James had the sneaking suspicion that he was not as alone in the Common Room as he had desired.
James had been in Hogwarts long enough to know that those with a reputation were likely to have enemies. James, however, had sought to build up a different rep. He built it on academic prowess and maturity. Not on the angsty, rebellious phases most teenagers suffered through. James had become a member of the Imperium Squad for a number of reasons, but his sound judgment and mature thinking had all contributed to his resume.
But regardless, he had a few annoyances in his transient school life. Knowing his opponents, he was probably about to pranked by the first year, Keith Nicholas, who he had combated in the Dueling Tournament. He tensed up, the apprehension edging onto his nerves. He had been taken advantage of multiple times when he was reading. Once or twice, his books had been soaked by such a prank. The prankster, of course, was put into detention by the House Head, but it was frustrating nonetheless. James was not afraid to punish anybody who truly deserved it.
