OOC NOTES: This is the first meeting of the Death Eaters after the Summer Attack on Hogwarts. It is taking place on the evening of September 15 2020.
I opened this thread on September 10. I'm going to post again next
Thursday to start the meeting, so you have plenty of time for your character to turn up.
The start of the meeting has been pushed back to SundayThis thread is not taking place on the grounds of the Malfoy Manor because of the new Fidelus Charm. It is being held in the orchard of a muggle farmer who lives nearby. Please don't kill the farmer._____________________________________
Despite his pretensions, Lucius Malfoy was never the sort of man who would have liked to be accused of wizardry by muggles. Muggle ideas of magic were confined to childish illusions and phantasmagoria, or else to parlour tricks that real witches and wizards would never dream of undertaking, let alone being proud of accomplishing. Thus, it was with some disdain that he found himself striding across the fields of his property under the cold light of the moon and looking almost exactly like the wizard from some muggle child's fairytale.
Emof, of course, was the cause of all this. Rather than holding a meeting in the comfort of his own house, or in any comfort at all, Lucius had recently had cause to cast a powerful charm over his home, which had the inconvenient side effect of preventing any of his former associates from arriving there without a formal invitation. And given their sudden change of fortunes, he had decided it was wisest if the secret was kept with Narcissa rather than himself. Not only would their enemies assume that he was the secret-keeper, but his wife was much less likely to be in the direct line of fire should things ever come to that.
And all that had led to this. A meeting of the Death Eaters being held in a muggle farmer's orchard. If nothing else, Lucius could at least relax safe in the knowledge that no auror or hit wizard was ever likely to have predicted this. Closing the wooden gate behind him, Lucius found himself surrounded by trees. It was just like the old days in forests and abandoned buildings and graveyards. Never anywhere to sit.
Carefully, he rolled back the sleeve of his robe and applied the tip of his wand to the mark on the inside of his arm. As he silently cast the spell, the shape of the tattoo writhed as though the serpent it portrayed only remained there because the force of the wand pinned it to his skin.
